What can Republicans and Democrats agree on?

N Korea and Iran are both big threats. The difference between the two is NK is China's puppet. They are held on a short leash. I think they dont do anything w/o China knowing about it first. Iran, on the other hand, is being run by an apocalyptic sect of Islam. The leaders of the country and a part of the population of Shiite Muslims believe that they need to bring on a catistrophic event before 2012 to bring along the 12th Imam (or Mahdi), the Muslim equivalent of the Messiah, who will bring peace after the destruction and restore Islam as the true faith. Ahmadinejad, Irans President, has publicly proclaimed this.

IMO this makes Iran much more of a threat because they are driven be religion and they feel that the reward in heaven is greater than the suffering on earth.

SpurHunter - 3/11/2010 2:57 PM No doubt about that! Kansas City, Mo just voted to close HALF of its schools!! WHAT!?!?! How in the blazes is this going to help the economy long-term? Deny kids a proper education because of bad politics hurting the economy right now....seems backwards to me. I would think we should be doubling our money spent on education right NOW.

Is throwing more money at it the answer? I am still a big fan of the voucher system, which allowed many underprivilaged children access to a private school education. I think so many schools are underachieving that children should have the opportunity to a good education. The president does not trust the education of his kids to a public school system.

Why are private schools a better choice?

That little peckerhead Kim Jong Ill and Mumahad Ahmadontgiveadamn both have snakes in the head! They both are crazy as**edited for profanity***house rats! I think just about everyone can agree on that!

Thats funny. Yes we can agree, but somehow they have it going on. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if we did a gun drive and just dumped them by plane over the country. I think the citizens of Iran may just have enough backbone to do something.

I just wish people would work together instead of against each other. Its not right and wrong, its both have valuable info.Look at the common ground instead of the differences, and build on that.

most americans agree, big government is NOT the answer......Bush allowed it to grow we hated that, that is the "change" many folks thought they voted for, now it is growing even further out of control.
dem or repub.....less is more!!
soggysod

No you did not hate it, anybody that challenged it was unamerican. All I read in paper was "can not believe you oppose The President, time of war we need to stand behind him, by not giving him the money you are jepordising my childs life that is fighting for this country, love it or leave it." Do not even act like you don't even remember that coming from Republicans. You only challenged it when a Democrat was elected which is par for course with Republicans. Its not getting out of control. It is about getting under control, which is not in Republicans best interest at this time. Talk to you Monday.

what??
I am amazed at how you misread that.
when you say "you did not hate it" i wonder how you would know that..... but yes I did.
I did support the pres, and I supported the troops, war efforts aside, I am talking about his lack of backbone, how liberally he leaned. He went along with anything his dem controlled congress wanted. But I also recall (and can support with video clips) his admin calling over and over for regulation on fannie and freddie. This was scoffed at the the little weasel Barney Frank, saying there was no way the housing market would fail.

obama ran and got elected saying bush spent, spent, spent....
Now we are in a RECORD deficit, he has quadrupled what bush did, yet that was his platform for getting elected.
A smaller more controlled government may not be the "change" you voted for, but everyone I know who voted for Obama, this was their desire, argument, and belief. I personally didnt trust a word the man said.

oh yes it was out of control with Bush, and it is 4 x out of control now!!!

This all reminds me of the movie's "Total Recall" and "Running Man" So Republicans now want to regulate big business, and Obama has this country 20 more trillion dollars in debt? Is that what you are saying?

Money won't totally fix the problem, but it would sure help. More teachers could be hired, compensated better and facilities could be improved. While the root of the problem in most cases is poor parenting, I think that all this would be a huge step in the right direction.

Detroit and Washington D.C. spend the most money per pupil in the U.S. they also have the highest failure rates of any school systems in the country. So money will not fix U.S. education. Education starts at home. It has been proven time and time again that children will do what their parents do and say what their parents say. As far as teacher pay goes they only work about 2/3 of the year and make dang good money when the amount of time put in is counted. There ins. is usually great along with retirement benefits. I know from experience most education programs are the easiest programs to get into in college. And it sure did tick me off when I was studying economic theory and some of my friends in education were putting together coloring books for lesson plans.

The only thing they can agree on is to DISAGREE, unless a terrorist is after us on our soil then they all yell blow em up and let god sort em out
