Well, I know that there are folks going to the G without posting. I also can understand this since no one wants to spend $60 to $80 bucks to pre-fish and hopefully improve their chances, then give it all away to the same folks who are going to be fishing against them.emoScratch I am asking to discuss any information that you all want to share that could improve "our" chances as a group to bring in some better weights.emoSmile This crazy weather is not allowing the bass to go shallow as in years past in my opinion. One day warm and looking good the next going down to the 20's. The water temp right now at the G as a whole is in the 48 to 49 degree range. You can find 50 to 52 if you look hard enough but there still does not seem to be any shallow bass in numbers that we can find. It seems that even though there are some big(ger) bass being caught shallow the better concentrations of better fish seem to be on drops and ledges with grass and struture in the range from 7 to 14 feet. A large variety of baits are being used, the traps of course, large worms, cranks, jigs, slow rolled spinner baits and even swim baits. Locations of these bass are also varied from grass edges in the main river and secondary lake edges, inside grass lines on old river channels and ponds, as well as channel breaks and creeks entrances.
It seems if you have the time and the gas to search you can find some bass in these type of areas. I was wondering (without giving away your honey holes) what everyone else has found or is expecting? Any discussion?emoTeacher Jmax.

P.S. I downloaded Bbass's pic resizer thingy...I am proud to say my new picture that you see was downloaded by me!!!! My frist!emoApplause

Just looking at what reports there are and getting a few calls in, I think the whole G thing is inconsistant. Nothing to really rely on Jim. Water temp dropped a bit from last week and i think thats because dirty water holds sunlight warmth..no matter how cold the air is. Even the local reports are really scattered. The weather isnt gonna be enough to change things either. Rain... new ball game.

I didnt waste my money this weekend and spent it on Chick. Next week is gonna be touch and go. I cannot and do not see Flip and I in any creeks at all! We may check in on one but I seriously doubt they will hold a 20 plus bag. Who Knows...that place isnt the same as last year, thats for sure!

Your right JTF, I'm due down there!!!!

I'll tell yall, I'm clueless. I have made 3 trips and dont have nothing to go on for that T. I havent been down lake any and that is where some fish are being caught. I say down lake, I really mean mid lake areas. I am almost ready to flip a coin, north or south. I plan on getting 1 more day in next week, maybe something will happen then.

If there are any fish in Mud they are getting pounded!!! I'm not fishing your Tx, so I dont have a horse in the race but i would be willing to bet that The winner of this one will find fish somewhere other than Mud, Your right Jim, Mud is not what it was last year. If I had a week to practice, I'd be down river, there's much more varied structure down there, and the fish are less pressured. We all know that if you show up looking for fish in a TX your already at a disadvantage. My advice:dont get all caught up on the Mud Creek Hooplah! Good luck to you all next week. I'll report after the Grant's TX tomorrow.

I am going to stay deeper downlake, unless the fish tell me otherwise on Monday...

I think if we stay with nightly lows in the mid 40s this week, that the shallow bite will be more consistent.

I agree with you Bprice. Today one of the tournaments that was on the lake was a Budweiser Tx and it was won by less then 8 lbs.emoEek You and Churly should have entered that one, you would have won. When it is taking less then 8 lbs to win one then there are a lot of folks not doing well. I still believe with the group we have going that we should see a 20+ stringer but that may be wishful thinking. It is suppose to rain this coming Thurs and Friday so who knows what additional effects that will have.emoConfused Jmax

It won't take much. If the temp stays up tonight and then rain tomorrow at a higher temp.... then maybe with 50 - 60 degree days are enough to get it up above 50 consistently... we could find them moving up. Transition is what will kill won't it? When they are between those two areas? Out in the channel and up in the creeks?

Well guy's, my partner and his farther fisthed the G this morning. They put in at BB comer and fished from there down, with not much luck. He said the fog was terrible and did not lift until around noon. They threw traps and spinnerbaits, said there best 5 would go somewhere around 13 to 15lbs. Hopefully i'll be able go get down early next week and try it again. Good luck to all who fishes the Tx.emoFish emoAngler

Well, Jim since I haven't reported my last 2 trips, I guess I owe you this much. We have caught Jack and Sh&% the last 2 weekends. Hopefully strategy will change a bit next weekend and we'll luck up on at least a keeper or two. Water temps aren't like last year and I believe every fish has seen a trap or two in Mud creek. Not real sure what we'll do next saturday but hopefully we'll be able to make a decent report after the tx.

I will be fishing pretty good ways down unless the price of gas keeps rising like it has this week.
If the weather does what they say this up coming week there will be some good sacks brought in.
Do know that at least one good sack was brought in yesterday. They were caught swallow
on lipless baits up river. Haven't fished to many tx's on the G when someone didn't catch a big sack. If people are fishing today I hope they are careful, the River will be rolling today.

I won't be able to make the Tx but I'll lend a hand... Looks like the big wave a fish that we saw last year is a little behind. I haven't fished the north end but from reading reports water temps are behind too. Now usually the north end is better this time of year but better catches are coming on the lower end and midlake for some reason. Saw a fish pushing 12lbs yesterday and a 5 fish sack around 27lbs. They only caught 7 fish all day though which were in morning. Last weeks rain muddied the water and warmed the water temps in some of the creeks which made for a good shallow bite if you found them. You can still catch them shallow but you have cover lots of water. We caught a 7lb and a 6lb shallow yesterday and two pushing 3-3.5lb out a little deeper. Next week is going to be a lot warmer so those fish up there could still could make that move. We threw spinnerbaits up shallow and crankbaits out deeper. There were alot boats sitting on humps yesterday... Had some buddies fish Roseberry and only caught a few slicks off stumps which made me think that they were buck bass up cruising. We need some stable weather for sure...Oh, that big bag came off a 1/2oz bayou boogie in like a blue glimmer shad color. One thing to key on is the shad. If you see those big gizzard flipping your in the right area and if you see the Loons you know bait is in the area. Hope this helps.

Myself and rooster are still trying to put together a game plan for sat. We have fished north and south with little differnce between the two. I just know what we have been catching will do nothing in a tourn. except cause us some shame.

Bet the muddy water is back after today.

Ditto.

Since I will be riding with Bprice.emoLaugh

Now I'm wishy washy... I was 100% running down lake yesterday, but I am beginning to waiver. If I run downlake I have to be 100% committed down there. Ok, i'm starting to out think myself and getting nervous :)
