MMMmmmmm...? What have I learned today after staying on the computer most of the day trying to search for Gunterville information? Let's see.....Mooseknukles took second with 16.4 lbs on xr50s and never caught one in more then 4 feet of water! Great they must have moved shallow!!emoApplause But wait....sdfd29 had a Tx today and theirs was won by 17.12 and the bass were caught on the river in deep water around creek opening on jigs, sb and traps.emoDoh Pointer78 fished shallow all day due to the bad weather and never put a keeper in the boat.emoSorry ......Several of the local guides have posted opposite reports as well and no one is finding any bunches of fish.Guides:
Mark Rizk say shallow on Red traps and Sb in 4 ft.
FLG Guide Services say mid lake humps in 7 ft or more along grass edges.
Spinner Bait Kid say both(he's right) super shallow on traps and sb and also humps at 8 to 10 feet.
Tim C. say 2 to 4 feet with green grass on xr50s and xr 75s.
Bass Blaster says royal shad traps, pumpkinseed brush hogs and jitterbugs.

Well I am sure glad that is all straightened up. I know exactly what I am going to do now.emoBadLanguage emoGoofy Jmax (ain't that a hoot, took it straight off the reports.emoLaugh )

We've learned...

oh great one

...that its still inconsistent and there's no solid pattern. In a nutshell...fish everywhere and with everything.

Judging from the various reports, the staging bass will be the most reliable and the least pressured. However, they are the hardest to fish and most difficult to locate. I predict that those who put some time in on locating staging hot-spots will excel in the upcoming Tx. Those with little experience on the G will fancast the flats and struggle...or hit the jackpot

I'd say go fish and see for yourself.........the computer is over rated.....

However I do think BB and Flip are holding back and I predict them to finish in the $$$$$$$$$$ but they are fishing somewhere between shallow and deep and throwing a spooooooook!!! Go plus one

Tndoe and FS???????? i PREDICT IN THE $$$$ TOO or plus one!! Which is all that really matters!

Here's the deal.... there are fish in EVERY stage on Guntersville. I plan on fishing the mouth of Honeycomb with 4 lb line and rooster tails.

Bprice,

If your going to down size that much, I would go with the 1/32ND Jig and Bass Assassin.....tip it with a little chartreuse and color the throat red............

You will be guarenteed a few keepers!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh...4lb test Crappie Master line!!!

Please don't tell Bbass I told you the secret though!

Dad gummit, I was gonna use that PA tipped with chart on 1/32 lead head (probably painted lead head tooemoTongue ).

I changed my mind... I'm fishing a 1 oz sauger jig on Mud Creek breaklines, 2 foot with its sharp drop to 4.5 feet, right at the swing...

BP I heard they were hitting the RTs in pink & white-2.5oz in 90+ foot of water. Work it realy slow & take alot of them

I don't give a rat's arse. If me and JTF start hauling water, at least Billy and I know where a GIANT school of white bass is located! emoLaugh

By around noon on Saturday ... that 4lb test and a rooster tail could be a whole lotta fun!

This thought has crossed my mind (yeah - I have a few from time to time) ... we're going to cool off again for the next 48 hrs and then the temps are supposed to begin a gradual climb - possibly to almost 70 by the day of the T. This potentially means two things, 1) we may be on the G at the perfect time for a slugfest and, 2) ol' RR just may get to fish in flip flops! emoIdea emoCool emoIdea

My neighbor's, cousin's brothernlaw from Ga said they caught a bushel of bass on downrigged waxworms in the main lake. Said they made a mess of their boat trying to dip the tails in chart spike it. emoEnforce
Dang Jason. I sat here studying maps and talking to a few friends.... after reading your post, I'm more confused now, than I was awhile ago!!!! With the moon phase, I'm going with they'll have the feedbags on. If you happen to find the right gett'er of the day, you could hit a jackpot. That's my prediction. But the whomp of the XR50's does kind of make you feel like you are GOING to be successful. Especially if the water is stained.

JSV SAID IT RIGHT...if you sit at home and read and listen to "dock talk"!!!! you will never catch a fish!!!! go fish your strengths and instincts.

As others said, fish what you're comfortable fishing. Are all the fish shallow, no. Are there some good fish shallow, yes. I like it when they're dirt shallow. That's the way I'm going to fish the G until probably June. I know others can go catch fish in the deeper stuff, I have zero confidence in it. If I tried to fish that way because others said too, I would be miserable all day. It's not my style. I like to put the trolling motor down and go. I will fish other ways when the conditions warrant, but that doesn't mean I like it. And, BTW, RR you couldn't see in my pic, but I had the flip flops on Sunday!!emoCool
