I agree, Utah should get a piece of the title. They played a great game. DB's couldn't cover or tackle, lines couldn't pressure or protect... a serious, surprising and thorough butt whooping. Never expected the Utes would open a can on them like that.

The Utes certainly deserve consideration for the #1 slot and will get a few first place votes, but it's gonna be Florida or Oklahoma.

We will probably have an AP champion and a BCS champ this year.

Undefeated Utah beats Bama. The Utah win diminished the value of Florida's win over Bama in the SEC Championship. However, Ole Miss who beat Florida whipped Texas Tech which beat Texas which beat Oklahoma. So the AP voters may just decide Florida nor Oklahoma are worthy and vote
for a different option. Utah or USC may end up with the AP title.

People have been laughing at me for saying this, but Utah got JOBBED by not getting a national championship bid, and they proved it last night. Thanks BCS, now we get to watch a Florida team play for the championship after losing to a team who had 4 losses this year. Not quite as bad as last year when a 2-loss team played in the title game, but close. It's all about money and who will bring the most fans to town to spend, spend, spend for a week or so (i.e., Ohio State going to the Fiesta Bowl with 2 losses, one of them a blowout to USC).

The whole BCS thing is a sham and having the supposed National Championship game on a Thursday night is freeking stupid.

Quite frankly, I was surprised as well as the entire Bama nation. Alabama wasn't ready to play and that was a surprise. The suspension of their best player had to be a distraction to them, but to play like they did during the first quarter is inexcusable. 4 mil per year is supposed to do better than that. Of course, Nick can't play.

You have to give Utah credit for being ready to play and playing well, but to consider them for NC is a stretch even at 13-0, IMHO.

There will probably be a split NC this year with winner of Okla/Fla being the BCS champion by rule and Southern Cal will be the AP champion and who in their right minds thinks that any team in America could have beaten Southern Cal the day that they played Penn State, including Oklahoma, Florida, or Texas? Nobody could have beaten them on that day. emoGeezer

IT doesnt matter about USC's performance on Thursday. They lost to a mediocre team earlier in the year. If you want to play for the national title don't lose to chump teams.

That mediocre team was in the Rose bowl until they lost their last game. Utah had to come from behind late to be that mediocre team. Every team is mediocre at least 1 or 2 times per year and you know that Craig. Utah just happened to have their mediocre games against really weak teams. Can't play that what if game. Doesn't work.

This is exactly why we need a playoff. Who is to say that Utah is not the best team in the country, with 0 LOSSES!???? At least a plus 1 would be nice. Utah vs. Florida/Oklahoma. Then we could know for sure.

Ha! Thanks Snuff, but I'm okay. We got thumped ... there's not much else to say. When we got to within 4, I thought we had them sewn up ... oops. I'll personally blame Andre Smith for a lot of that debacle. It's hard for JPW to conduct an offense while he's running for his life. True, the DBs played terrible, but they've had their share of poor tackling this season so it didn't blindside me to see that happen. Congrats to Utah though, they deserve it.

I have 8 months to begin preparing for next season. Rooooooooooooooooll Tide!
