I suspect it already happens . We don't check livewells anymore or give polygraph in big tournaments anymore might hurt someone's feelings.

Who would you use to do a polygraph and how much do they charge. This isnt a real serious question because I know the answer and most tournaments couldn't afford a polygraph.

Polygraphs run between 150-400 in GA. The local tournaments have a $5 add to the entry fees that go toward the polygraph tests randomly given throughout the year. The money left over at the end of the year is put into the pot for the championship or the last tournament of the year. Also it is not always the winners that get tested, it is random in the check winners.

You don't have to give one every time just every now and then. You would be amazed at what it does to weights when everyone knows one is going to be given at a tournament. I seen it done one time to a tournament club and boy the weights sure fell off for the rest of the year and funny thing the people who had been doing real good suddenly weren't doing very good.

What the Mike Long situation should have taught us is that there are lots of places on a boat to hide a fish. It doesn’t cost anything to check all the livewells and do a whole boat check at random. The TD should have unlimited discretion to do a whole boat check on anyone else as well. A small amount of money could be set aside to polygraph anyone with whom there is further concern. This might be an inexpensive way to promote integrity.

get caught cheating in a local tournament like the Catch or the CBA or the Night series and have fun trying to get out of the parking lot. Most of the guys around here are stand up guys.

There is always someone trying to bend the rules in search of fame . Anybody who cheats in bass tournament is a idiot anyway cause it's not enough money in the grand scheme of things to risk your reputation or getting knot jerked in your ass for it.

CATCH reserves the right to administer a polygraph before you receive any winnings if you are suspected of wrong doing. We do one every now and again. Our guy comes down from Maryville and it's $350. Our rule also states, if you fail our exam, you have 30 days to find your own examiner and retake the test in order to clear your name. That will be at your own cost and we will have someone there standing by.

It's kind of funny, there was a couple guys that had lots of questions surrounding them. They weren't the ones tested, but they haven't been back since our last test. Makes you wonder. As matter of fact, I haven't heard or seen anything from them at all. Polygraph just keeps an honest man honest. A cheater is going to cheat and just hope he doesn't get caught.

Like Churly said, if you're caught cheating in a CATCH or CBA, you better be close to your truck. Everyone in a 1,000 miles will also know you're a cheater.

I have fished tournaments for over thirty years here and I only know of two instances of someone cheating. Most of the tournaments have been won by people I know and trust.

Many years ago I found a cage in a remote backwater on the Mississippi. Empty at the time but am sure it belonged to a cheater.
