Ordered a Lew's this evening. Thank you guys. Found mine on eBay as a refurb for $65. There's a bunch on there but a lot of them are 7:1 gear ratio reels...I don't like them that fast for what I do, so I got a 6:1. Maybe it will survive my torture test. The reel that this one is replacing, is at the bottom of Watts Bar lake...threw in a fit of rage that the gears were stripped out and wouldn't engage the spool anymore. haha
Unfortunately, Hook1 and I have found that the newer Pflueger's are cheaply made...stay away from thememoGeezer. Line-roller locks up and the bearings are crap...this has occurred on several reels, including the replacementsemoMad.I fully intend to replace all of mine with the Lew's.
Jason is right and I never thought to mention that. I have had I dont know how many Pfluegers replaced only to have the same malfunctions. Hippi97 repaired two for me last summer that still work but I'll never buy another one. These reels we are talking about are the Purist reels. Another issue I had is the reel seat itself breaking in half on a hookset! I feel these problems are inexcusable and I have made my feelings known to Pure Fishing and Pflueger. I have been ordering the Lew's reels from Top Dog Tackle. Give Jim a call and he will hook you up.
Gen3 Revo STX . I've had Lews and they are good reels, but over all the new Revos are extremely hard to beat. I own at least 1 of every Gen 3 reel Revo has. The best is the Premier. I've got 3 of them and haven't paid more than 180 for any of them from Ebay.
I've got the lews, the Abu winch, the Abu s (or may be sx) and the BPS Johnny Morris pro qualifier. I like the winch, but I have to say for the money, the pro qualifier blows them away. My next reel will be the pro qualifier.
