What's your most overrated lure?

I remember Bill Dance used to teach the importance of the angler having confidence in the lure being used. Over the years I understood this as learning when, where, and how to use that lure. And I will blame the operator for the failure rather than the lure being operated. New ideas in lures seem to spur the need to learn new ways to fish them lures. I have a short list of confidence lures but can't seem to blame the other lures except maybe blaming the operator for not spending time to make them successful. This is why I'm not too excited about new lures, it might have a long learning curve.
I will choose confidence lures most often and believe that is the largest reason they work.

Isn't it funny how confidence in a bait makes all the difference in our opinions? For instance, jigs. I always had them, just never used them much. A friend of mine, Joe Pickett, talked me into going out on my own and only carrying jigs for bait. I took his advice and now I almost always keep one tied on. Don't get as many bites with a jig, but when I do it is usually a keeper. Try it sometime with the bait you don't have confidence in and it may change your opinion on the lure and help you realize the conditions where it is more of a optimal lure verses how you used it before. That being said, DD22 have never produced a fish for me. No confidence, so again, I don't fish them much.

I'll catch me and my partner get to fishing , when we find a bait that works that is what we keep throwing . That being said when we are at the weigh-in everyone going on about what they caught them on , I think to myself , it is hard to catch them on something else if you are hooked on throwing that one bait that the fish are biting . Does anyone else ever run in to this problem ? Thanks

spinner baits and jigs. But you guys are right on, it's all about what you have confidence in. Top water to deep I like pop-r's, xr50's t-rigged worms and spoons

Its took a couple of years to find out that diff lakes call for diff lures. Its really not that it works you just need to know when ,where and what time of the year to throw it. Thats y some pro's are better than us. Water temp, clarity like muddy or clear, postspawn, prespawn, coldfronts, full moons, sun, windy, current, are just some of the things that play a big part in what you throw so dont give up just study when and where to throw it.
