it's funny how it says in the article that stations aren't "required" to sell E-10 or E-15 but all the people locally that have stopped selling it told me they had no choice...something just doesn't add up.

I was just told tonight at the exxon on 58 that used to be ethanol free, that it is mandatory to switch over to 10% ethanol for all stations nation wide . Get ready for 15% ehtanol this summer and say good bye to your motor if you use it unless its a four stroke.

I filled up at the Hwy 58 Exxon thinking it was E free and then realized it was not. Good thing I had some Stabil Ethanol Treatment handy.
This sucks! Way to go EPA emoBang emoBang emoBang

Good observation. The law doesn't require E-10, or E-15. But I'll wager that there is an economic incentive somewhere between the refiner and the distributor that makes sense to someone, or else those stations that want to sell straight gasoline wouldn't be having such a hard time finding supplies. It wouldn't be the first time that corporate greed was hidden behind the old "blame the government" excuse.

Ethanol from corn used as fuel is still a bad idea gone amuck. There are just too many unintended consequences.

... I guess that is correct! They aren't required to buy e 10 from their distributor, but if that is all that is available, what are they to do? I've been told that E Free is simply not being produced and no longer avalible.

Nah. We just bought 500 gallons of E-FREE from Parman oils. Benton oil still carries it as well. They told us that the pure gas is delivered to the holding tanks off Bonny Oaks and that's where the mixing occurs.

When they deliver it today I'll talk to him and see what's up.

If you're angry about e10, e15, and e20 you need to point the finger at ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) which also supplies... yep... HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. They've got their hands WAY up the politicians butts.

FROM NPR:

The U.S. corn crop is enormous. But about a third of it doesn't go to cereal or cows — instead, it helps run your car. To boost our use of renewable fuels, the federal government subsidizes corn-based ethanol.

This has the meat and dairy industries up in arms over the high cost of their main feed. The rise of ethanol has pitted livestock producers against the oil industry.

In part 2 of our ethanol series, Harvest Public Media's Kathleen Masterson reports on what supporting ethanol means for the food we eat.

I think 100% gas is a misleading sales gimmic...High pressure water is used to move these fuels through the pipelines and to the point of distribution.. I use a fuel treatment everytime I fill up just in case. The other thing to consider is how awful the fuels are that we buy today. Crack open an automotive fuel filter that has 20K miles and you will be floored!

Exxon at Apison Pike and Ooltewah-Ringold no longer has ethanol free. They said the government forced them to stop selling it.

I talked to Parman Energy today (had to call when they failed to show with our gas), they confirmed that E10 is going to be mandatory.

However, airplanes are not allowed to run on corn so there HAS to be corn-free gas floating around. I hope the marine and small engine manufactures flex their muscles on this issues. This is going to cause so many problems it's unreal.

Maybe the Myans were right, the end of the world will really be 21 Dec 2012. . . when the last drop of pure gas is burned.

See Bassmasters Magazine Post on Ethanol about a year ago re: setting up filters and how it can hurt the engine.

I can't help but say this about the lack of 100% gas at the gas stations. I have been writing Congress for at least three years about how damaging Ethanol is to boating industry and how wasteful producing ethanol is. Anyone who subscribes to Boat/US should have seen this coming and should have done the same. As boaters we spend billions on equipment, fuel etc and pay billions in taxes. In fact we pay highway excise taxes on every gallon of fuel that goes in our boats and don't even burn that fuel on the roads. If the boating enthusiasts can't get this reversed then there is no hope for the little guy getting anything but :emoticon: from the gov't. We should all be writing and calling our reps / senators / etc just as much as we need to lobby TVA for no spraying. I am an activist when it comes to things I love. Are you?

Bullet,

The store in cleveland off of 25th street by the interstate on the right is pure gas. By the red light like you are going to krackle barrell.
