Where do you buy your outboard oil?

Wal-Mart brand works great in my little ole motor. Never really worry about brands as long as I know I'm getting lubrication.

Funny thing is...50:1 ratio is only 2% oil by volume. Another thing to consider is fuel itself is also a lubricant to a point being petroleum based.

I use the quicksilver in my 150 xr6, it is 25 at the cheapest around here and it is getting ridiculous. Would you say it was okay swithcing to a cheaper brand at wal mart or stick with it? Do you know of a brand that is comparable to quicksilver? and if i do switch is it okay to mix the oils or should i drain my resevoir first?

99 got a 175 mercury bored 15 over.what gas ratio you think.what you think about boy reeds have thought bout puttin them in.

River Rat - I've never worried about mixing oils - even synthetic with non-synthetic - after all, Penzoil even sells a blend of synthetic and non-synthetic so I think it's ok. just my opinion, but Wrechin can better answer that question. My ProMax has never had anything except the synthetic. I know there was some times I mixed with my old 200 Merc.

Depends on RPM's... I like 50:1 for up to 6-6200K and 40:1 for 6-7K. I am not a fan of the Boyesen reeds. I use a single stage fiberglass reed. The 99 will have a 4 pedal rubber coated reed cage if still original. They flow and seal better than the 5 pedal cages.

River Rat, I have never had or heard of any problems mixing oils. Just my experiences.....

I have ran the wal-mart oil myself on several of my engines stock and modified. Read the above post about mixing.</p>
