Great story RSimms! Thanks for triggering some fantastic fishing memories Richard. I’ve been lucky to be able to fish with some fantastic fishermen like Randy above to Dale Hollow, yourself to DH, Parksville, & the Chick for crappie, Jim Gray to Pickwick, Joe Burns to Pickwick and John Burns for crappie on the Chick, Don Lowe of Bristol to teach me the float n fly technique on South Holston Lake. Oh course, I can’t leave out Kevin Drake who I’ve fished with since 2009, and he’s probably the best fishermen of them all and not even 30 yet:)

Thanks... and yea, I want to be Kevin Drake when I grow up. :)

Great post and read!! Love those brown fish! So much fun to catch. It's posts like these that get me fired up to catch a huge smallie! I have never caught one over 5lbs and I'm determined to get one. I've had had a few a couple ounces short of 5 and they are amazing, but I need a true giant!! I talk to Lee at the dam all the time and love hearing his stories about his two over 9lbs. He told me where he caught both of them and one spot he doesn't even fish anymore. He says he doesn't want to break down way down stream and not be able to get back to the ramp! haha Great guy! Its the posts I used to read on here 8-10 years ago that really got me stared targeting smallies.

Thanks for all you do Richard!
