GREAT TOURNAMENT!!!!
First let me say we appreciate your patience in awaiting this report. We have had some personal problems I won't go into. It was great to win our first CFF tournament. Since we're new let me tell you all a little about us. My name is Richard Graham. I'm from Cleveland.I'm married with one child. My partner Jerry Webb is also from Cleveland. He is also married with one child. I'm a residential contractor, but I spend most of my time framing for other contractors. Jerry drives a propane fuel truck. We probably average 50hrs per wk., so we're not on the water all the time. We have both been fishing tournaments since age 12. We do not try to make money fishing tournaments because its next to impossible and we are not so-called "lurkers". We just love the competition and the feeling that goes with it, and yes, the more money that's up for grabs the greater that competitive rush is, but thats not what we're all about ask anyone who Knows me, well except Ranman. If I had back all the money I spent on tournaments I could retire from driving nails all day, as I'm sure some of you can relate. Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about catching fish on Chickamauga. The pattern we used Saturday will work on the Chick. anytime between late spring and early fall. We will use it exclusively until fall. It's not a guarantee. but you will catch fish more than not. First thing in the morning throw a full size super spook on main points, humps, ditches, and drop-offs. Key in on water from 5-12ft. deep. Keep your eyes peeled for jumps early in the morning. After the sun is up good, say around 9:30, we will start throwing a green or brown jig with a green pumpkin trailer tails dyed chartruese. Half ounce is a good size. I personally don't think brand matters but if it does to you we throw a Eakins Jewel jig and it comes in size 7\16. Again concentrate on main points, humps, ditches, and drop-offs, but this time focus on water 15-20ft. deep! Watch for real light bites! Don't get frustrated quickly. This pattern doesn't generally yield a lot of bites but your going to catch quality fish. If you don't like bottom lures in deep water you will not like this. That is the way we caught all of our fish and you can ask anyone who fishes with me. Try it! Thank you for a great tournament. I'm glad to see everyone took good care of their fish. Maybe in the future the rules should state anyone that wins must report within 24hrs. regardless of what's going on in their personal life, anything short of that and we're gonna burn you at the stake. Also to Ranman, So you won't lose any more sleep, we had two other invitations to fish besides my encounter with your partner, but thanks for the warm welcome. I hate he that he feels like he does. FYI we had an invitation to fish a tournament out of Grasshopper that day in which first place was over $600. No one ever has a tournament won when they sign-up unless they have the fish in a cage. I've weighed in under six pounds at least five times this year. The two ways you can get better at fishing are time on the water, and watching and listening to people that are better than you. Some people refuse to do either they just want to be born good. Thanks to all Richard and Jerry.
P.S. Anyone that can fish Saturday, There is a Partnership for healthy Children tournament at Harrison bay. Sick children really need our support. Also there is a tournament every saturday at 58 boat dock. Great, friendly bunch of people.
