GREAT TOURNAMENT!!!!
First let me say we appreciate your patience in awaiting this report. We have had some personal problems I won't go into. It was great to win our first CFF tournament. Since we're new let me tell you all a little about us. My name is Richard Graham. I'm from Cleveland.I'm married with one child. My partner Jerry Webb is also from Cleveland. He is also married with one child. I'm a residential contractor, but I spend most of my time framing for other contractors. Jerry drives a propane fuel truck. We probably average 50hrs per wk., so we're not on the water all the time. We have both been fishing tournaments since age 12. We do not try to make money fishing tournaments because its next to impossible and we are not so-called "lurkers". We just love the competition and the feeling that goes with it, and yes, the more money that's up for grabs the greater that competitive rush is, but thats not what we're all about ask anyone who Knows me, well except Ranman. If I had back all the money I spent on tournaments I could retire from driving nails all day, as I'm sure some of you can relate. Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about catching fish on Chickamauga. The pattern we used Saturday will work on the Chick. anytime between late spring and early fall. We will use it exclusively until fall. It's not a guarantee. but you will catch fish more than not. First thing in the morning throw a full size super spook on main points, humps, ditches, and drop-offs. Key in on water from 5-12ft. deep. Keep your eyes peeled for jumps early in the morning. After the sun is up good, say around 9:30, we will start throwing a green or brown jig with a green pumpkin trailer tails dyed chartruese. Half ounce is a good size. I personally don't think brand matters but if it does to you we throw a Eakins Jewel jig and it comes in size 7\16. Again concentrate on main points, humps, ditches, and drop-offs, but this time focus on water 15-20ft. deep! Watch for real light bites! Don't get frustrated quickly. This pattern doesn't generally yield a lot of bites but your going to catch quality fish. If you don't like bottom lures in deep water you will not like this. That is the way we caught all of our fish and you can ask anyone who fishes with me. Try it! Thank you for a great tournament. I'm glad to see everyone took good care of their fish. Maybe in the future the rules should state anyone that wins must report within 24hrs. regardless of what's going on in their personal life, anything short of that and we're gonna burn you at the stake. Also to Ranman, So you won't lose any more sleep, we had two other invitations to fish besides my encounter with your partner, but thanks for the warm welcome. I hate he that he feels like he does. FYI we had an invitation to fish a tournament out of Grasshopper that day in which first place was over $600. No one ever has a tournament won when they sign-up unless they have the fish in a cage. I've weighed in under six pounds at least five times this year. The two ways you can get better at fishing are time on the water, and watching and listening to people that are better than you. Some people refuse to do either they just want to be born good. Thanks to all Richard and Jerry.

P.S. Anyone that can fish Saturday, There is a Partnership for healthy Children tournament at Harrison bay. Sick children really need our support. Also there is a tournament every saturday at 58 boat dock. Great, friendly bunch of people.

RE: WINNING PATTERN OF CFF5

Thanks for the report RDG and congrats on your winning pattern. Hope to see ya at the next one. I like your pattern there and is usually what I try to do on Watts Bar. It is the quality bites you are after and I think you found them Saturday. You had some nice fish, and I look forward to reading your reports in the future.

RE: WINNING PATTERN OF CFF5

Thanks for the follow-up RDG. You guys had an awesome sack.

Relax ... there's no anymosity. We're just use to the interaction in here. Spend a little time in here and you'll quickly notice that the CFF is not like other fishing forums. This bunch just likes to get together and help one another out. One of the best excuses we could come up with to meet one another, was to get together to fish. But, the interaction is what brought us all together in the first place.

Congrats again and welcome to the CFF. We look forward to hearing more from you.

RR

RE: WINNING PATTERN OF CFF5

RDG don't think bad of anyone on here. Like has been said before this is folks who is used to spending a little time on the computer and having time to post. I can understand where your coming from and I thank you for taking time for the post. It is well written and very informative. That was a nice sack of fish anywhere, anytime. I suppose you have figured out by now that this is a fairly talkative crew and any and all are welcome. Sorry if some got off on the wrong foot and I don't think anyone meant any harm.
Thanks again for the report and keep us informed as we are mostly part time fishers and enjoy reading and trying the things that are suggested. I know I can use all the help I can get and need every bit I can get. Thanks again.emoThumbsup

RE: WINNING PATTERN OF CFF5

Man, great report. My brother and I were doing almost that exact same thing, we were just a lot shallower, which, obviously is why we didn't bring in the heavy bag. And please don't harbor any ill feelings toward anyone on the forum, I think things kinda got out of hand pretty quickly without giving the benefit of doubt. Hope to see you in upcoming tourneys, just leave the spooks and jigs at home.;)

Now that's one fine introductory report! I tried a chug lure early on hoping for a topwater bite too, but it didn't work out, but possibly could have in the right beds...the spooks have something about them that are more enticing at certain times and I figure that's where experience and time on the water perseveres over fumbling through a tackle box like I tried.

Thanks RDG for the generous report and congrats on a well deserved win! Many here respect the skill and effort it takes to do what you guys do, appreciate the contribution, and I hope you did not have to read anything overly accusatory in light of the personal problem you mentioned. That is not what CFF is about, however, silence in a place as active as this (Monday was the most active day in history of the site) after a tournament can quickly be mistaken for any number of things and patience is something hard to come by when typing on a computer keyboard.

Based on your your quote below:

"Maybe in the future the rules should state anyone that wins must report within 24hrs. regardless of what's going on in their personal life, anything short of that and we're gonna burn you at the stake".

You have a valid complaint with this and I hope you get some PMs making things right.

Welcome to CFF and hope to get a chance to meet you at the next one. I am stoked with a big grin to see even more experienced and talented tournament anglers sharing patterns on CFF emoBigsmile

Wow RDG, what a great report. It sure shows me the error of my no-fish-catching ways. Stacey and I managed to get a couple of decent fish in the well but we started out too shallow and stayed that way....oh well...like my Daddy always told me..."If your gonna be dumb...ya gotta be tough". Sorry I didn't get to see your sack of fish but had to retire early due to battery issues.

I would have expected to see more response from this report after all that hububb (is that a word?) Oh well....maybe having trouble reaching the keyboard....heheemoLaugh

Thanx RDG for the most excellent report, Im glad you had not come here to do what alot of cff members thought. It even crossed my mind .. just didnt post anything .. figured I would just take the wait and see approach. We caught or fish early on top too .. just didnt follow it deeper as the day went on .. next time I will! We did try some points in the 12-18 range with dd22 but no takers

As has been said already GREAT REPORT RDG.
Welcome to the CFF. I think there's a bunch of nice guys & gals that simply want to learn how to catch more and bigger fish and have fun while doing it.

GREAT REPORT RDG and I truly hope all is well with all personal problems , we will keep you in our thought and prayers! Hope you will join us for future events.....we are having a bream tour(Crackerfest 06) on May27th out of Chesterfrost. Maybe you and Jerry's family can join us for that day out.
Being from Cleveland, have you fished Parksville Lake much? When I was with BellSouth (years ago) we placed Fiber Optics up in that area but I never fished Parksville Lake by boat. I've been told there are some good trout in the lake. If I get to fish CFF6 (which is on Parksville) I believe I will have the ultra lights handy and if we can't locate any Bass , may just try my luck with the Trout.
Once again thanks for a very informative post and congratulations on the 19lbs.

DANG___DANG____I knew we should have stayed with those schoolers early in the morning. Good report RDG. Also welcome to the CFF.

I stand corrected and you have my deepest apology RDG.Thank you for the report.I honestly didn't think I would see that as most of the T's we have fished against one another are very "tight lipped" about patterns.I am a very frustrated angler, and I am so sick and tired of ending all of my tournaments with no keepers to bring to the scales that I just want to stop sometimes. It seems that no matter how much time I spend on the water, how much I study,or how much I talk to other successfull anglers,I still only seem to catch short fish on T day.My time will come I know but for now I'm just sick of getting beat by the same guy's that have been beating me since I started a few years ago,and I thought that this was just another case of that happening to me in a tournament that I thought I had a better shot at.
So with that I give you a Welcome and another thank you for contributing.

Great report and congrats on your win this past weekend. That pattern sounds like a killer post spawn pattern. I use that pattern with some good results but it tends to not be as effective on my part of the lake. The fishing pressure here in the Wolftever/Harrison bay area I think puts the fish off a little but I still do all right with it. Thanks again for the great info.

Good thing I had a light dinner because it looks like I need to order a generous helping of humble pie. RDG, please accept my apology...no excuses, just jumped to conclusions. Congrats on your execution of a textbook post-spawn reservoir pattern and your well deserved win. I look forward to meeting you at future CFF events and in discussion on this board.
