I was woundering if anyone knew about these WMAs' (I think they are Williamson Track and North Chikamagua respectively). Mainly, are you alowed to fish there and are there any fish in there. I know I see someone in the Willimson track during the summer, parked in the grass off the main road, with a kayak but no-one seems to know if you really can park there and if you you can fish there. There is a place to park right off of Thrasher, but that only gives access to the stream/creek and not the pond/lake that can be seen from the main raod just south of the exit. As for N. Chickamagua, it can be accessed by taking the road that runs directly along-side 27 (either from Thrasher or Harrison Lane) and is next the the Bud plant, R/C Plane club, and stables (I beleive). There is no indication as to any rules or regulations posted with the name.

my grandad and I have fished the area along 27 across from the Bud plant several times in the summer and have done pretty well early in the morning on the topwater bite. I know I've seen alot of duck hunters there during the season and also, it is very shallow and during the summer you can wade off the shore probably about 30 yards. We usually catch around 3-6 fish on poprs everytime we got during the warmer months.

Hey 8 ball, Thanks for the input! I have one more question for you now, what color, style, and shape of top hitts better. Ok, well, two questions lol. Where do you park and get in there? I know there is the gap in the fence along the main road, but is there a way to get down there from the tracks if I can't get to said gap?

Thank you so much for your responce!!

Sorry, I just realized which place you were talking about ... my bad. Anyway, still, where do you park there and is there any side thats better hitting? (Ok, that brings it up to three questions. I'm just so happy I found someone who even knows where i'm talking about and now very excited to try these places out. I've been wanting to find out about these for months now.)

Nephillim, sorry for the late response, I honestly don't know exactly where you suppose to park, but we always parked on the side of the road and entered anywhere we could. It's public land, so I really don't think it matters where you park. If you're not planning on wading, there a probably 3 areas where you actually have room to cast from the bank. about the lures, that area really never gets fished, i think we've seen 2 other people there once,...... so the fish really don't seem to care what style or color, just make sure it's topwater and it makes noise. The only topwater we've never had any luck on there is a buzz, which I really don't get but for some reason, they love either a popr or spook.

N. Chickamauga WMA will be stocked with trout on Mar. 1. Non-hunter use is prohibited during a period of time, of which is over probally because duck season is over. TWRA's website will have a PDF map of the zone that trout is stocked. I've seen catfish and bream there in the summer when it has'nt dried out.

Allright 8 Ball, sounds great to me (now if this cold weather would just finally move out so I could really get in there good). This spot of bad weather has been fairly discouraging for this poor bank boy (if only I had a motor for my boat, ah... a man can dream lol). But thanks alot for all the help!!!

Sprestwood, do you mean that it is only closed to anglers when hunting season is in or after they have stocked it? I'm sorry but I am a little confused here.

There's a spring about a mile & 1/2 south on the RR tracks, with fairly big & deep pools. I've caught some nice fish there. Not too many places to fish off the bank, If you go there give me a holler(PM) & I'll go with you!

Ive fished that pond on the corner of 27 and thrasher a couple of times. It actually is an overflow from the creek. Ive always parked in the grass off of 27. Ther is an entrance into the WMA there. I always have used a canoe, but ive caught a few LM out of there, and a ton of crappie on the back side. It gets deeper on the south end of the pond. Access from the bank is limited. Hope this helps.
