It should not even be called bowfishing in my opinion. If you hunt the intention is to kill. When I fish I intend to catch and release. Bowhunting for fish is more like it.

I spearfish to kill and dont eat, but that is slightly different. We hunt lionfish due to being an invasive species and because they eat everything on the reefs. Reef conservation. Even so, i cant argue in favor of the above....

Yes I have spearfished but I ate what I killed instead of the lionfish. I am not in favor of "bowfishing". Dig a big pond and buy your own fish to waste!

Best statement in the thread.. I can not understand Bow-fishing and I am a trophy winning Archer. Why not toss difficult targets in the water and shoot from a pier or your boat?</p>
