All the colors are good at different lakes at different times. The reds will probably be best for the chick along with the purple and shad looking ones. In the river ... the blue/green one is good too. Ive had best luck cranking them at a medium speed w/ a rip every few seconds, especially when fishing grass! Usually the fish are going to hit the bait when it stops, so when you pause and rip, most of the time your setting the hook when in your normal retrieval routine. The best depth seems to be 2ft-8ft, to me a flat or the back of a cove is an ideal place for these. I like the 50s best ... My 2cents, good luck!
