Thanks for the report, Rusty! Surprised you haven’t fished the Nick more. It’s a beautiful body of water.

    Jacob Wheeler Crushes It

He beat the second place finisher by over 11 pounds, and that with a 2 pound penalty. Wow, just wow.

Do you own a .40 cal Beretta?

If so, I just found an extra mag (with cartridges) to a Beretta 96 that I sold over a year ago. Would be happy to trade it for something fishing related (obviously not something expensive!). PM me if you are interested.

    Can you identify this creature?

I am heartbroken that two people beat me to chupacabra but that’s my vote!

    2000 Ranger 518svx Comanche

You made me laugh out loud, Bill! You’ve seen my boat! True its current coat on the cowling came from a can, but it came from the factory black from cowling to skeg, including a black Teflon coated stainless steel prop!

    Trash gate flush

We fought it at Loudon a week ago. Large cut logs created a debris line like an asteroid belt in Star Wars. One of our boats lost a lower unit, possibly to a partially submerged log. Dangerous stuff.

Agree on the black motors ruling the water. My black Evinrude just keeps running. But it’s only 30. We’ll see in a few decades how it holds up!

    Bass Boat Oxygenator Opinions

Tony M. The very helpful book you linked seems to support the concern about ammonia in the live well. It can build up very quickly. The admonition to avoid H2O2 seems to both be entirely conjectural and seems to be based upon further conjecture that fishermen can’t or won’t measure the chemical...

    Bass Boat Oxygenator Opinions

Summary of the TP&W slideshow: 1) If you add 3 oz of H2O2 to your live well, the O2 level will rocket up 2) You have to do it every 30 minutes 3) They didn’t observe it hurting fish, but they can’t say that it doesn’t. Don’t use H2O2 isn’t the conclusion I would draw from that.

    Bass Boat Oxygenator Opinions

That video on H2O2 is brilliant. I should also say, as an aquarist, that nitrites and ammonia are the killers of fish and they don’t get removed in the nitrite cycle in a live well. This is why ventilation helps some. Ammo Lock tablets can knock down the ammonia by rendering it inert. This is...
