    Anchoring in wind

I don’t have the money yet to get a power pole or trolling motor type anchoring system. I love fishing and dissecting points but the wind can do a number on my Norris Craft blowing me and my brother off point. I do have a 80lb maxxum, but I feel like I’m causing too much noise trying to stay on...

    Lake Cherokee Lake Help

I always fish rocky points, humps and walls there with squarebills 3-6ft, Spros 7-9ft, Zman magz 7inch watermelon red or Canada craw worms on shakey head. I have most success fishing anything rock related just below 25E bridge but not too far past Sheltons Shoals. The better fish during mid-day...

1988 Norris Craft 1750xl eve - Livewell Question

We never use the livewell on our boat as we only fish recreationally (as much as we can! Lol) and just catch and release. I installed a Minn Kota Mk345PC charger earlier this week and I’ve noticed that the cranking/accessories battery takes longer to charge and if not hooked up to the charger it...

    Water level questions

I fished Cherokee on 3/27 and that website for that lake was off by over 7ft for some reason. I’ve used it many times in the past but after that I don’t know if I fully trust it anymore. I had to zoom all the way in on my Helix lakemaster map and adjust the water offset as I crossed contour...

    Boat Batteries - Any Suggestions?

Thanks for all the input. After some research I found that my Odyssey Extremes for my trolling motor are great workhorse batteries so I’ll stick with them as they seem to work great. I did replace the Optima yellow with the Optima Blue D31-M. I have a Minn Kota Precision 345PC onboard charger on...

    Boat Batteries - Any Suggestions?

Had my first dead battery situation yesterday while fishing Douglas lake. I had to switch out a trollilng motor battery to get back to shore. The cranking battery is right at 3 years old as well as both trolling motor batteries. The cranking battery is an Optima AGM Deep Cycle & Starting battery...

Helix 9 Chirp Mega SI GPS G2N - No Temp Option

Never mind. The jackass that hooked it up had the cables reversed at the y-cable. Works fine now.

Helix 9 Chirp Mega SI GPS G2N - No Temp Option

I'm trying to configure some of my settings on my Helix 9 and when I get to Settings/Setup there's no option for Temp. I was trying to set up my side of screen overlays with depth, speed, time, and water temp. I have the mega si transducer and a puck ducer split by Y-cable. I was doing this in...

    fishing reports

These are the type of reports that me and my brother continuously laugh at: “I caught all fish using hard baits, plastics, etc off points, flats, coves and creek channels in the lake” emoScratch. I may have exaggerated that a bit but it’s close emoGoofy.

Spawn gonaa be late this year?

Given the studies and articles that I’ve read on bass behaviors not all bass spawn every year - some will skip years. With the cooler weather we’re having and the water temps not stabilizing as mentioned by jb366, that may push more bass than usual to skip out on the spawn. Cross your fingers lol.

Helix 9 Mega SI Transducer Location

Rob Lee, do you have a shoot thru Hull 2d transducer and Y cable? I ordered those so when I have my unit installed, those will be installed as well. Hopefully that will help. Thanks DJ, I did some homework after your posts and my boat should b able to get a good thru Hull reading with the 2d...

Propeller Pitch for Best Overall Performance

I have a 1988 Norris Craft 1750XL Vee with a Mercury Blackmax 150 Xr2 (1986 I think). I have a Quicksilver 48-11078A40 25Pitch prop on it now. It seems to work pretty good but it’s a bit dinged up and I was wanting to replace it. I can get into the 5000-5500rpm range with it on plane and me and...

Helix 9 Mega SI Transducer Location

The only thing I worry about is when the water is down. Navionics doesn’t allow for depth changing unless you’re using an iPad or phone app. Lake Master does allow for water level adjustments but some of the lakes I fish aren’t on Lake Master such as South Holston. Some of Cherokee and some of...

Helix 9 Mega SI Transducer Location

Thanks. I do use a map card, Navionics at the moment and know when I'm about to get shallow because I only run the maps when I'm on plane at high speed. However, it's just having that depth accurate at high speeds just gives me peace of mind lol. Going to download the Lake Master maps of the...
