Got in the woods first thing yesterday morning. Immediately heard a chase on the ridge accross and below me. I tried to slip up on the deer but they were heading away from me. In the meantime the other guys hunting with me were seeing chasing as well. At lunch Landon and I met up and decided to go walk the "King Ridge" as we call it. We slipped up to a logging road near the top and walked a little way around the corner. The woods were so loud and we could see a long way, so we parked it against a big log. It started getting dark, so we were getting ready to head back to camp when we heard something below us. All of the sudden a deer starts blowing below us, but our wind was heading up hill-perfect. we never could see anything, then I just happened to look way down through the trees and river cane and something caught my eye. I cranked up my scope and told Landon I was looking at a huge buck. I grabbed my shooting sticks settled in and boom. It was a 150 yard shot. We heard no noise after the shot. I thought I saw him go down. I headed straight to where I shot and Landon walked the ridge below me. After a few minutes, landon say there he is. I said is he dead, Landon said not yet but he's down. I said hit 'em again! He popped off dropped his gun and looked back at me and said, "this dude's got character!!". He weighed 173lbs. live and I guess 4.5 years or better. I dont know how to score him because one side is just a huge palmated beam with two thirteen inch tines, and a 3 inch sticker off the back. The other side is like an 8 point but has split brows and sick mass all the way out. These pics dont do it justice! Thank you lord for such an opportunity at a great TN. buck!!!! Letting the little ones walk and harvesting deer like I have the past 2 weeks has made for such a rewarding season!

emoUpsmile I think the boy is still in shock. He has been hunting up there most of his life and has never even seen one that big. emoBigsmile Jmax

I still say pics dont do him justice! I could care less where he falls on the B&C score but I want an official scorer to check him out. Anyone know of one around here, let me know. The one side has at least 67.5" of antler with a 5.5" base and 23.5" main beam. I dont know how to score the other side but its base is just as big!? I am still in shock. I made the decision to go up there at the last minute and I went because I had doe tags for the weekend. I also shot this deer with a .30-06 that I haven't shot in a few years. Mounted a new scope and zeroed it Friday right before heading up there. First shot out of old faithful was a good one! I'm glad to see that we have those genetics on my hunting ground!
