A way to resolve fishing tournament issues(in theory)

A $1000 permit fee wouldn't shut down the tournament I run. I would just get a sponsor to cover it and it would be fishing as usual.

guess everbody that is for it fish out of a 50,000 boat that has 5000 dollars worth of tackle and 5000 dollars in gps and side img.in a 3 hour tx you even the field a little not much but a little.boys cant run to watts bar or lock thu to nick and hav alot of time to fish.im goin to step on a few toes but here it is.look at the guys that fish cba most of them have atleast 60,000 in boat and tacke.and most of them run a good way.not everbody but most of them.THEY GOT THE BEST.but look at dogfight see alot of good ole boys that dont have all that.im like most i can lose 25 buck and not worry bout it but 180 would hurt me bad.its a rich man game and if i couldnt fish dog fights then i just wouldnt fish for money.that is mine 2 cents that aint worth a thing . :)

I have read everyones replies and everyone makes great points.I guess I was leaning more towards people that fish larger tournaments that in hopes they have a large deep payouts but the tournament seen is so diluted that you just cant get the amount of boats to make it happen .Thanks for everyones replies and opinions, thats what makes this site that I have been apart of for years so good.

Ok first of all I am not trying to sound like an ASS!!!!!! Damon this is the CFF and it sets up a touny trail that is all for fun and friendship! how many cff tourys did you fish last year?? Most of us CFF'rs can't AFFORD to fish the big CBA tournaments. It's not that we are scared like the CBA folks want to think. $1000 for boat ramp fees is stupid. maybe you can get the CBA or the other big tournys that you fish to pay out deeper but this web site is set up for the love of the sport and not the MONEY. IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS POST PLEASE PM ME AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW I REALLY FEEL.

Just shut up and fish and hell no I want the grass to come back on chick it would have 34pound sacks of fish consistantly I think the sorry sob that had it sprayed to begain with should be in front of the arrow the bow fishermen are holding

Thanks for bringing up your opinion.. this site is great...

Im just really and i mean REALLY tired of YEAR after YEAR.... the CBA trying to stir crap and raise kain about the smaller tournaments.....

CBA's Crap does stink .....BAD.....

So like someone said just shut up and fish.... Let argue about keeping those idiots from spraying grass and not fight with our own people.... just makes no sense to me....The dogfights and smaller tournaments is probably what FOUNDED the CBA and larger tournaments... so you guys need to remember your roots!!!

Just my 2 cents.... again

You dang right... us bowfisherman actually try and work TOGETHER on issues that hurt bass fishing....... after all thats the main reason we bowfish is to control the population of the carp and save the grass

Move to Guntersville, then complain about tournament traffic. 100+ boats blasting off from State Park, Waterfront, Goose Pond, and Jax county every Saturday. 30+ boats blasting out of Mink, Comer, Hwy 69 and Honeycomb every Saturday. Everyone gets along, everyone stays safe. Tears must flow easier out on Chickamauga, but then again, we don't have the blameless mother of all tournament trails, like the hallowed CBA.

First of all I love putting on fishing tournaments and I love to fish in them. With that being said I did not want anyone to think that I am wanting tournaments to go away but I have a opinion being on both sides of the fence at one time or another. Here is a thought....
Make it a law that to have a tournament on any lake you have to get a permit.I know this goes on already but make it a substantial amount say $1000 for a permit. This would limit lakes to where they would have only one or two kinds of local tournament trails during the year. Some will say "Hey I cant afford a $100 entry fee I just like to compete for fun". My theory is that if you only have a couple of trails on one lake that everyone that wanted to tx fish would boost the tournament field to 200 boats. In return the entry fees could be dropped considerably because of the field and you could still pay 35 places with a $50 to $80 entry fee.The permit fee should be put directly back into that lakes resources such as boat ramps, docks, habitat,or local fishing youth organizations. Now if a national traveling tournament trail wants to come in that is fine too just get a permit and for the lakes that are visited each permit fee will go back into that local fishery. Some will not like this idea because that would do away with small clubs and dogfights but I think it would help tournament fishing payouts and fisheries themselves.

Would this permit be for just one tournament, or just one boat ramp or would it cover the entire fishery for an annual fee? If it covered the entire lake for a year what would stop a person or organization from paying the $1000 then letting the dog fighters join their club for a "membership fee" to profit from that money? Not saying that its a bad idea; however, you may be in the same boat as you are know paying a higher entry fee to fish for less money.

No you don't....but you got the grass!

Honestly, I don't think it really matters whether it is the FLW tour or Bassmaster series. If you want large tournaments go out and promote. But you better have excellent speaker that knows how to get anglers on board. The prize such as 10,000 dollers brand new boat, fish finders, new rods or reels always helps. If the amateur fisherman think the tournament is rigged, they won't show up. How many tournaments have you fished that the tournament Director said, "everyone participating has to be willing to take a liar detector test. Well, I've been to few and knew the tournament was rigged. One tournament, the anglers that had won it got caught out of there boat, suposedly dragging a cage and weren't made to take a liar detector test. While back ago a couple of Doctors from Loisville got caught by TWRA during Billy Westmoreland Tournament grabbing fish out a cage. Sad thing about the whole mess, they had won the previous two tournaments. Professional anglers are given GPS cordinates these days by their team advisors or marketing stategist. What happen to anglers knowing exactlt what there doing. Rick Clunn was complaining about all these professionals hiring guides each time they fish a new lake. Some of these professional would of been sitting in the bleachers 30 years ago cheering for their home team. To answer your question yes it can be done.

man you guys are a tough crowd. I understand what cuttthroat is saying and i respect his opinion and his right to put it on here. but no matter what anyone comes up with, we will all never agree. guys fish for fun, some for food, some for competition, and some just so they can talk trash to their buddies when they beat them (this is my reason). we all have different reasons. I dont mind other tournaments going out of the same ramp, just blast the small one off first. and dont sit at the mouth of a creek (pointer78 reference cff #1). and i wouldnt mind fishing the cba's, but i just love going to different lakes (gunters, nick, watts, logan martin, neely, tims, etc). when the smallies are biting on tims, the spots on logan or neely, or the largemouth on guntersville, I just cant sit around jockeying for a spot on chickamauga with the 100 other boats that are trying to fish the same spots as me. and gunters does have more tourneys, but its a big lake. it can absorb more boats than chick and nick. put 100 boats on nick or chick and its crowded. put 200 on gunters and you would think no one was out there.

I vote to leave it how it is. if the government was more involved, it would only screw it up worse. i am young, but i havent seen much the gov. does that isnt a cluster. im still pissed about having to get my car and truck emissions tested. lol. emoLaugh emoLaugh

Owning a boat is a luxury and not a necessity in most cases. Anyone who owns a boat, knows its a money pit. It take alot more $ and tlc than most cars. Having said that, some love it so much, it is worth the $ to them to own and operate a boat. I dont own a boat anymore, because in my case I cant justify spending the money to own and operate one. I do go out w/friends though and dont mind helping w/gas and fees. I just fish my first tx with the CFF. I always said I would never fish a tx because fishing is my first love (my wife knew this before we got married!LOL) and is like therapy to me. I feel like fishing for $ would take that away. I decided to fish the CFF because of the low fee and for the fun and not the money.

IMO paying a large fee would probebly be unafordable for a small tx. If they want to look at the bigger tx, say if you have over 50 boats or something like that than you pay a certain fee, that might not be a bad idea if the $ is being used for the upkeep on ramps and facilities.

Again, I dont have much say in it, because I dont make money to fish. Just my thought since the subject was brought up. emoAngler

It's just a matter of time before Tennessee follows other states and requires a tournament permit. Guess that will bring on a whole new area for arguement, er, I mean discussion. Just have wallets ready.

What these avid fishermen dont understand is that tx regulation is on its way!!!! There is a whole lot more talk about it in the txs in Middle TN. Bprice said something about tears, I guarantee you that there will be a whole lot of crying going on when this does happen. Its a good thing because the fishery will benifit most from it!

I think there does need to be some sort of regulations put on the amount of tournaments. More so in the middle of summer than winter.
