Four years ago, after getting sick and tired of cheap trolling motor batteries going bad after a year or two, I broke down and paid $560 for a pair of Optimas with a 3-Year Full-Replacement Warranty. They have now lasted for four years and they show no sign of giving up! I can now say it was a wise investment. Now you know.

i put ionics in my boat two years ago - very pleased with them. i run (3) of the 50ah for my trolling motor and have yet to kill them in a day of fishing - run 100ah ionic for electronics running four graphs. still running a big NAPA battery for starting. Going on i think the fourth year on it and it is doing great

Great Post Richard. Perhaps as you mentioned your typical battery life was influenced by your heavy usage. My usage has never been close to yours. For me I find the best bang for my buck in trolling motor batteries to be the Walmart Everstart (Maxx if you can get them). They typically last me 6 years. I do promptly charge them after every trip and I monitor the water level. For a starting battery the Yamaha 250 SHO I had at the time didn't allow lithium and I had went through a few cheap AGM size 31 batteries so I payed the money for an Odyssey 31M starting battery. It was a beast and when I traded my Skeeter after a few years use it was like new and strong.
