Socialism vs. Capitalism

Many debates are over these two subjects…. Scholars, Historians and Professors provide input to answer our economic problems, so we our better suited for the future… Do we want Government to control everything and decide what we should be paid, where to work at and what kind of benefits are needed??? Politicians get too much power and control they tend to give their selves extra things instead of the common man….

Or we could let Government stay out of our business, let business’s run things how they want to…. Workers would be at the mercy of the Rich because they would be calling the shots when it came to wages, benefits, hours and etc… Environmental laws would be up to the Business’s to decide what is right or wrong… Would greed and control force us in dark times with no light a head….

By looking at Socialism and Capitalism there are tons of negatives….I could set talk about this all day and give examples of pros and cons for each…Lot of posts have been brought up on Politics, Republican or Democrat which is better…. My answer is neither; they both have their faults….

In most major economies, those two don't exist anymore. Look this up, Authoritarian Socalism and Democratic Socialism. Most world economies, although some features of traditional ecomomy exist, could easily be classified as one or the other.

I agree with you that there is not one with out the other.... Some economies fluctuate back and forth, with some more Capitalism than Socialism... Today's economy probably couldn't survive without both because we are so use to needing help from the Government that we wouldn't know what to do, if it wasn't there.... The problem with Socialism, it is the next step to Communism, where Government controls everything.... When this happens the Economy comes to hault because lack of competition and hassle paperwork to make progress....

Some people don't realize that there are Countries that have more of Capitalist Government than the United States does.... United States is not the free Government, which everyone believes it is or once was.... That will be something for me to look up which countries Government has less regulation on Business's than the United States of America.... Our taxes are not the top but we are pretty high on this list for over taxing....

We don't live in the 1800's any more, it a lot more difficult than once it use to be... Morals and ethics paints the biggest picture.... Do you believe all the big companies and corporations would do the correct thing for the Environment and people.... Or would Greed and power take over and make the rich fluorish while everyone else would suffer and pay the consequences of having free Government...

OPTIONS:
Give power to the Business's

Give power to the Politicians

Market forces are better controls than the Gov't could ever hope to be. There will always be corruption but Gov't corruption is far worse. Greed is a relative term we have to think about what would motivate someone to provide a product or service monetary reward is assumably the most motivating.

I believe neither Socialism or Capitalism left alone have been, or would be successful in society. Socialism, left un-checked will lead to Communism, and Capitalism left un-checked have brought us things like slavery, pollution, greed, and only 2 classes: Rich and Poor. I think we in American have done a pretty good job for the most part of balancing the two sides. Some things are too important to us as Americans to be controlled by free markets, while I also believe that any individual/enterprise should be able to make all the money they can, provided they do it honestly, ethically, and don't destroy the environment.

Why shouldn't drugs be legal to adults. We sure do waste plenty of money on enforcement. If someone wants to screw their life up on drugs go for it.

If drugs are done in someone's home away from sight of kids. It is their business not mine. But you will have people that will abuse it. Look how much tax dollars that can be made from it, less crime too.

Today's government, what would you categorize it? Socialist or capitalist?

Todays's government is what it has been for over 200 years, a Democracy, too many people confuse central government with economy. Our economy is a mixed economic system. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT CONGRSS AND OUR PRESIDENT DOES, AS LONG AS WE HAVE THE SUPEREME COURT AND THEY UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION, WE WILL ALLWAYS BE IN CONTROL.. Tell me why though, like Plessy v. Fergusson witch made black people in our country inferior to white. Brown v. Board of education of Topeaka to reverse that case with Black folk standing up for their rights as citizens of this great nation. To eventually end Jim Crow Laws in the south. In my opinion roe v. wade is just as bad. When our we going to wake up and say enough is enough. What would the Great Martin Luther King say about abortion in America today. On his birthday I would like to leave everyone with that thought. Before everyone throws me under the bus, plase take time to read his "Letters from a Birmingham Jail" Happy Birthday MLK.

Today is definately mix between Socialism and Capitalism.... But if we get too far on the Socialism side, it eventually can turn into Communism... This does not happen over night, it eventually sneaks up over period of time, and it can happen here if we don't have check & balances....

Marxism is the philosophy, social theory and political practice based on the works of Karl Marx, a 19th century German socialist philosopher, economist, journalist, and revolutionary. Marx, often in collaboration with Friedrich Engels, drew on G.W.F. Hegel's philosophy, the political economy of Adam Smith and David Ricardo, and theorists of 19th century French socialism, to develop a critique of society which he claimed was both scientific and revolutionary. This critique achieved its most systematic (albeit unfinished) expression in his most famous work, Capital: A Critique of Political Economy, more commonly known as Das Kapital. Since its inception and up to the present day, Marxism has been situated largely outside the political mainstream, although it has played a major role in history. Today, Marxist political parties of widely different sizes survive in most countries around the world.

So, basically you have know idea? Try reading the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Fredrick Ingals, will take mabe an hour to read. Very short publication. This stuff off internet. Are you kidding me? By no way am I a Marxists, but you should know what they are advocating first before you think you understand it. Not you, but others have been real quick to call people communist on here.

Listen here I'm not calling you communist and you have no clue what your talking about... This is for education purpose, so basically you are saying this information is worthless... Society is based on Capitalism, Socialism and Communism, all societys are based off of that... You live in dream world that dosen't understand basic economics.... I don't really care if you put the whole book of Markism on here... Do what ever makes you froggy... Communism is bad, and I would never believe in it or the theories behind it, so bring it on big boy we can go at this for hours... This is my best subject and would be glad to throw information in....

Ok guys, if your intent is to call each other out, this thread will be locked. Discuss, make a point or two, and be civilized please.
