Capitalism vs. socialism (politics)

Politics is something that divides people and nation... One of these days it is my hope to have educated conversation with folk and debate resonably over politics... Some take it serious and too far, but I don't like to pass judgement on anyone... My thought, we all should look at the big picture and not be so narrow minded when it comes to everything.. There are always different views and points, take all of them and come up with the best answer... Politics is the same way, you have to look at the bad and the good, and decide which side you stand... The reason I'm an "Independent" is because both parties are about equal to me, they have some good qualities and bad qualities...

Matter fact I plan on going this weekend.... Do you want to go with me??? Barren River Lake in Kentucky has some hugh Largemouth.... I plan on doing some Float N Flying down by the dam on those rock points... Back in September I caught monster largemouth on topwater there, and everytime I go, that spot is the first I hit...

Macdaddy if you read my response, I never said you called me a communist. You are right when you say you have to look at both sides. As far as the communist manifesto, I was just wondering if you new what is was before we went any further. If I am not mistaken what you posted might be an out line of the manifesto, but from what I read it really does not explain it. Here is my veiw on Marxism. It never existed, if it did it did so only in the early years of V. Lennin rule. However when Stalin took over it basically came a Totalitarian government. In a Marxist, idea of communism, the workers are supose to answer the three basic economic questions in a society. What to produce? How to produce? and for whom to produce? In his ideal world society would only produce what it needed, it would be produced by workers with equal pay or benifits, and everyone would share equally what was produced. Might sound good, as we know it will not work. However his writings was a manifest. He said to make long story short, a society without any economic restrants, in the beginning the workers would have some advantage as the middleclass, eventually as the workers became expert craftsman they would become the business owners. Through market forces eventually the best businesses would become vertically and hoizontally intergrated, leaving a society with only a few answering the basic economic questions. During this process the working class now the working poor, would eventually rebel. Workers unit, is the words I think he used. That is why if I remember corectly Russia was called the Soviet Union. Lunch break over. If anyone has anythink to add feel free. It has probably been 15 years ago that I read the book. That is what I took from the book anyway. When you read the book it is not very straight forward..

Most of Economies are based on Free Market, which Adam Smith (the father of Capitalism) wrote in Wealth of Nations.... Free competion, with no monopolies plays important role in society and how competitive we are.... It is my thought, we don't have enough competition out there... Many goods & services are prouced by two or three companies... Some of the Board of Directors for one company is the CEO for another.... How does that make competition???? Look at Microsoft, they basically have monopoly and can do or charge what they want on regular basis... Automobile companies, we have the big three in the Unites States, but we do have the foreign cars....

The Wealth of Nations, Book IV, Chapter II

According to the system of natural liberty, the sovereign has only three duties to attend to ... first, the duty of protecting the society from the violence and invasion of other independent societies; secondly, the duty of protecting, so far as possible, every member of the society from the injustice or oppression of every other member of it, or the duty of establishing an exact administration of justice, and thirdly, the duty of erecting and maintaining certain public works and certain public institutions, which it can never be for the interest of any individual, or small number of individuals, to erect and maintain...

"I want some Obama money!" I am for the free market. I am a supporter of a more capitalistic nation. I feel the government should decrease and our right increase. For instance, I am tired of getting tickets for not wearing my seat belt! I mean really??? I am so sick with the government right now that I am thinking anarchy, but I am against that too. All I know is this, since I have been able to vote, there has not been one person that I was happy to vote for. I just voted for who I thought would be the lesser of 2 evils. Progressives suck!

About the funniest thing that I've ever heard was guy hear in Tennessee said he wouldn't except any stimulus check from the Government, he said it was Socialism... I believe this was on the Phil Valentine show... Well Phil asked the guy what his occupation was, the guy answered, "I'm retired".... Phil said, " so where do you get your money." Guy answered," well I'm on Social Security." LOL!!!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!

But since the government takes out social security from your income as long as you work, to me, you worked for it. And besides that, you dont get back nearly as much as they take out. I am self employeed and I knoe that they rape me on federal taxes and social security. Generally speaking, if I make say, 35K annually, after taxes I pay in, its more like 25K. I cant stand it. I dont mind paying taxes even though I hate it, it is a part of life. But why so much? It wasnt this bad 3 years ago. Cant seem to figure it out.

Right now, I don't think your taxed on Social Security after $100,000... Supposedly, they want to raise that to where the Government takes Social Security all the way up to $250,000.... Just think, if that money we invested into Social Security was put into stock or Government bonds.... Annual interest would average at least 8% an year or more..... Politicians should be thrown in jail for robbing Social Security like they have.... If it was civilian stealing money out of bank, mutual funds, stock they would be thrown in jail... Politician are above the law, and it is not right, there need to be more checks & balances.....

You are right in that politicians are above the law. Yesterday on CNN, which I dont know why I was watching that channel, they were saying that Obama is going after tax cheats hard this year. This is all CNN was talking about for the entire half hour. What is funny to me, he has as many tax cheats in his hand picked cabinet than there are states in the USA. Am I the only one in here who finds this appauling? I dont think so. Its not a matter or being to the right or the left anymore. We should all stand together and throw out the government or at least oppose them to the extent they have to listen. There are more of us than them and I dont think they realize that right now.

I totally agree with you, if you looked at most of the Politicians I guarantee most of them are cheating on their taxes....

By Obama regulating the banking institutions, you could call that Socialism... But to me it is needed regulation to control from companies monopolizing or from doing the wrong thing....

Bush was part of Socialism too!!! He bailed out the banking intitutions... Conservative (Republicans) use to believe leave the business's along without helping... Supply and demand, companies will go under and others will merge...

No, no, thats not what I was referring to. I believe the banks need held accoutable, as I believe the governemnt shoud be too. They were speaking of Obamas concern this coming tax season was cheats. He needs our money to help his spending spree and that is the reason for "cracking down". But I am talking about his hand picked cabinet has many, many tax cheats, and they are his top advisors. I feel it is hypocritical, but politics is that way I guess, and it is a shame.
