I have been thinking about this since I heard of a get-together CFF had last year (spring), where some folks showed things they were really good at, like Drumking tying knots, and EricM throwing a 10 foot net.

This knot thread got me interested in it again. http://www.chattanoogafishingforum.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20464&posts=11

I can throw a net, (small net very well, large net so-so) shoot docks well enough to get by (dont do it DK

), but my knot tying consists of one, yes, 1 knot that I can tie for baits/hooks attachment. I can also tie some pre-rigged stuff like snells, and such, but that is it. I have no idea how to flip properly.

I know lots of folks would like to see the right way to rig tubes, toads, catfish rigs, (Cheez, EricM, WLG?)

Maybe DJW's could be there and show his stuff, and take some orders. I would love to have a couple of his baits, but since I have to tell him what colors to make (custom only) I need some guidance.

FA could show some rods he makes as well, and its a perfect time to deliver rods that need repair to him.

Someone with a sidescan could show people what the heck those things can really do!

Any other ideas? Its also another great reason to get together and meet some more new faces.

Anyone got interest in doing this again? I was thinking maybe HBSP, or that park on the lake side of the Dam? Or maybe over at Waterhaven?

Lets here some ideas.

Great idea Spur, if I can be of help, let me know, there are quite a few new people on the forum and I know they would like to meet everyone. Have this on a saturday, most people don't work that day. If you want to have hamburgers, hotdogs and fry's or a full blown BBQ or a fish fry is fine with me. I hope there are others who would like to give their ideas on something like this.

When a water chigger or big cruiser comes too close to you while you are fishing and are at 1/2 throttle, this is the proper way to flip. Turn both fists, palm upwards and extend finger towards the sky....I can't believe that I said this. (I didn't say which finger. Whew!) emoEvil JK folks. This was a DK joke. You are supposed to laugh, not be offended. emoBigsmile emoGeezer I won't go there on the dock shooting skills either, Spur. emoUpsmile

Im all for it, lets do it... emoToast

A Fish Finder reading and set up class???,,,

I made the sugjestion last time this came up I could bild a jig and we could have our own knot wars with different knots and lines and test them against each other to find out what really is stronger "stole this idea from In-fisherman but figured it would be fun to do it ourselves",,,

Doc, since I would like to see the day focused on lerning to use new ideas, proven methods, and so-on, if we do any food, I would suggest just a hotdog or sausage cookout. It would be very easy, quick and cheap too. $3 per person would probably cover. Might even just leave the grill burning, and let folks cook their own? Just as long as that part is low-key.

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

We should do some sonar pics. Maybe one of our members thats a guru on that subject could help out. I've tuned in my Lowrance...talk about detail! Unreal. Gotta thank Rogie Brown and his nephew for that!

SpurHunter - 5/28/2008 10:58 AM How does June 21 @ 6 PM sound?

How many folks will we loose on this day to the CBA night TX?

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

Spur, the date sounds good to me, any date is ok with me for that matter. I will volunteer to burn the dogs and get the goodies together for this knot tying, just tell me where to be and you need to put this date on the forum so that everyone can sign up that wants to come. You can post my address on here if you want to and they can send their $3.00 bucks to me or anyone else who wants to take the money up. Get this idea rolling so that everyone has plenty of time to figure out if they will be attending or not.

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

Yea Doc, I wanted to get some more feedback before adding it to the calendar. It may be a bad day and or time.

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

Spur this sounds great my family and i would love to meet eveyone, and there are alot we could learn from this type of get together, if we can help in any way let us know. clean up and or set up.

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

I love the idea. Would like to be able to put some real faces with these names. Its always good to meet more anglers from our area, then when I spot one of you guys who always catch lots of big fish, I can follow you around.emoLaugh I will be wherever whenever, I do not really have a schedule.

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

Hey BBass, I wonder if you could get Roggie's son to come and show us how he tunes those sonars? I bet they are busy with the Night TX that day, but ask anyway.

Another topic there seems to be alot of interest in is catfish jugs. If the people that have them would bring one sample, the guys that are interested could look them over, and decide what works for them.

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

icon_lol.gif
. Mid-July is REALLY getting hot that time of day. What about doing it on a Friday night? Maybe start at 6:30 or even 7:00?

I NEED FEEDBACK PLEASE!!

Its hard for me commit to a set date with work and all going on here at home. I'd vote but dont want to influence the date..LOL

RE: Cast-nets, knot tying, fliping, shooting docks, sonar reading, ect. Meet-n-Greet?

Great to bring this up Spur. It is way past time for another meet and greet. Count me in.

Where we held an informal M&G last year at HBSP near the new fishing pier opposite the boat slips seemed to work out very well. We can meet at that area at will without a park reservation or permit.
