Forecast for Sat TX day, is 98 with a heat index over 105. Myself and others I've spoken with plan to stay home. Do you think they will postpone the tournament? It could be very stressful for older folks and young uns to endure this kind of heat. IMO.

No we will not be postponing the tournament. The good part about the summer months is you can choose between a day and night event.

During the really hot tourneys I will only fish till around 11 or 12. If I don't have over 16 pounds I usually leave (dependent on the tourney really). I realized a long time ago that driving home after a 10 hour fishing tournament can be extremely dangerous.

Fish till you need to stop, assuming you have a limit and want to weigh in. Find yourself a nice overhanging tree or a boat stall someone may not mind you parking in and just stay in the shade and wait it out. emoAngel Like Shane said as well, you can always choose to fish the night tournaments during the next three hottest months. Be sure to bring sun screen, lots to drink, hat, ice and make sure to care for your fish. emoThumbsup Jmax

If the forecast remains true we will probably shorten the tournament by an hour. We will not make a decision on that until Friday.

Drink plenty of water and jump in the lake a few times. Dont wear denim jeans unless your name is Jmax. But most importantly, take care of your fish!

JMAX I know will wear jeans... You wouldn't catch me dead in jeans in 98 degrees. Talk about some swamp crotch LOL

emoUpsmile Yep, I will. They will be very thread bare jeans, but jeans none the less. emoBigsmile Jmax

May want to offer early weigh in for those who may need to cool down, no need for heat strokes, jump in water if necessary for cool down....just saying emoGeezer emoUSA

Y'all are tough guys for sure for fishing during the day in +90 degree weather. I'll just stay home and piddle till closer to 8 and enjoy the coolness and comfort of the night bite. Good luck to you all and pay close attention to what your body is telling you.

If the night hours were reasonable I might try it but some people can't fish at night. For instance if it is a very dark night I loose my balance in the dark and I am partially night blind. Some guys just don't like to night fish and are forced to do so as CBA points system integrates day and night points toward the standings for the classic. IMO, the night tx's are a good Idea but should be scored separately and have a night classic. Especially now that the qualification has been cut in half. I'm sure there are some who agree. Anyway, the new weather models are now showing 93 for Sat. A little better...

If it hits 93, I'd expect to see Jmax in his favorite cut-offs...</p>

It gets hot every summer and you can't please everyone but we've had CBA's in way hotter temps than this....anyone remember the heat wave 3 or 4 years ago when we were seeing 100+ almost everyday for a few weeks? We had one during then in either August or July and it was brutal....but fish were caught and nobody died. Jmax started to get that glazed over look in his eyes at the weigh in, kind of like a bass gets right before it floats belly up and dies but after a little shade and cold water he survived.

Maby having someone to weigh at one oclock to save fish and give some of the fishermen a chance to weigh and get points and save fish from being transported in 90 degree heat for ten hours. Just a thought that might give people a break and make more people like the older guys want to fish . I have sugested this in the past but was told once scales are set dont want to tear them down and reset them at end of tournament because there may be a difference in how scales weih with money on the line. If scales are reset if a fish knocks them off which happens quite frequently wouldnt matter any way if scales are certifiied.

It's going to be tuff on the fish . You have to have plenty of ice for you and the fish . When it gets this hot it needs to be a 6hr hell with 10 and 12 hr
