You know I'm really having a problem with our AOY total points scoring and two drop format. I've seen people, myself included really get the raw end with it through the years. I know several years ago three times I had the most total points for the year but lost the AOY to Jmax and twice to Leonard because of the drops. They each had a lower drop number than I did and beat me. Jmax even discussed the situation on this forum and said he may or may not fish one of the last Tx.'s of the year depending on how it would change his total points. And that was fine. He had figured out that if he missed the last Tx. and had a 0 he was locked in and couldn't be beaten for the AOY. Yet if he fished and scored above a 70 with the drops total he could loose. It almost pays for a team or member to just skip a Tx. and have a 0 for a Tx. or a 20 point total as an non weigh in (DNW) and then have a lower number to drop from their total score. I not fussing about this for myself but let me strengthen and make my argument with these examples. Look at our total points standings now after 5 events. The first 8 are really not much of a factor or example. But then look at Ken and Jeremy. They have fished all 5 events. They have higher scores totaling 460 points but then after the drops they go from 10th to 17th? Dean and Mike, Patrick and Dusty, are all affected the same way. They all drop in the standings. Now look at Shane and Andrew Kilgore, Terry Webb and Justin Webb that have a 20 score in their totals they jump from 18th and 20th place to tie at number 12 with their drops. If you really want to see an example of what I'm trying to say is look at Mike Day with 477 total points. His partner Jeff Silvers missed two of the five Tx.'s and has a score of 291. Now after the drops Mike has 295 points and Jeff still has 291! Only 4 points behind even after not fishing two Tx.'s I really do not have an answer or possible solution for this right now. But it looks like the members that fish the most events and have the highest scores are the ones that are getting penalized after the drop events. I just don't see how that is right? We want to encourage more participants yet the way I view this is we are encouraging some anglers to not participant and protect their scores! As I have tried to explain earlier the system actually benefits a member or team to not fish a Tx. or even two to get the lower score to count as their drops! If you watch the scoring totals and play your cards right as the year unfolds it is oblivious that someone can manipulate the system to receive lower scores for their drops and protect a higher points total. If someone wants to play that type of game they can manipulate the total score in their favor, beat out and be completely unfair to the others that have scores above them for the year. I do not have an answer or even a good suggestion for this right now. And we cannot change the scoring in the middle of the year regardless. But we need to think about this for next year and maybe have some other suggestions. JMO!

We have several options. 1 we go to a one drop system but also add that you cannot drop a did not fish
2 eliminate drops all together
3 no one can win AOY if they don't fish every tourney (but then there is the issues of work/personal emergency)
4 leave the two drops but do not allow teams to drop a did not fish or did not weigh
