outcaster - 10/31/2008 11:01 PM Your right, I don't know how much you guys make. But I suspect that very few posters on this forum have even sniffed a quarter million dollars, let alone list it on a Federal tax return. Making $250K per year and having my taxes go up would be my definition of a GOOD PROBLEM to overcome. This years election is simple: I you like the way things are going in this country vote for McCain. I you would like to see a change in direction, vote for Obama. "Thats all I have to say about that!" Forrest Gump

Here's and idea. I keep my money, my guns, and my freedoms; and you can keep your "change". Let me guess, you want the government to give you some handouts and some free healthcare.

I know one thing, the only change you are going to see is a crackdown in those who disagree with the "messiah", higher taxes for us all in the form of Bush tax plan rollbacks, and a crackdown on the Second Amendment.

Guess what? If people who make money have less to spend, they are less likely to waste it paying you for "guide service". I also have a question for everyone here. Have you ever been hired by a poor person? Me neither. When you tax corporations, they have less money for expansion and the hiring of new employees. You think it is bad now, you have not seen nothing yet.

And apparently you do need an economics lesson. Trickle up economics do not work.

At least you were right about the "things getting worse" part. Reward the Republicans with 4-8 more years and we'll have it. Perhaps its you that needs a economics lesson and a history lesson. The wealth in this country was built from the bottom up, not the top down going back 300 or more years. Our nations' wealth and prosperity was built first by slaves (we don't like to talk about that), and since then by hard-working average Americans Make no mistake, wealth has always been generated from the bottom up. Your right, no poor person has ever hired someone. But also know that your boss and mine would not keep us employed if we were not making money for them. BTW I have never recalled any of my "guide service" clients stating that they wasted time or money by fishing with me. Having an honest debate does not need to get personal. I have just stated some fact based opinions, and several of you are having a hissy fit.

i dont think he was being personal to you. he was being realistic. He never said you werent a good guide or that your clients didnt get their moneys worth. But when individuals have less money, its common sense that your number of trips will be lower than it will if the economy is flourishing. I believe that was his point. and he's right on the money. im in the construction business. do i make 250k?? heck no. does my family company?? yes. will that directly affect me?? yes. if you aint got money to build a building, i dont have work. my daughter doesnt eat. my 50+ year family business is washed away. i dont want to see any of those happen

beetlespin - 10/31/2008 7:10 PM I think you are sorely outnumbered here. I guess that makes the rest of us idiots. One reason the stock market is down so far is because its highly likely a democrat will be elected next week. Just remember, the stock market is a measure of where people think the economy will be in six months, not where it is today. It became apparent about a month ago that Obama would be elected (most likely) and everybody's 401k has taken a bloodbath.

If you do not care about this post go somewhere else. Here is a novel idea...go to the heading "Fishing Reports" And any gun owner and hunter who wants to see Obama in office should go ahead and mail in his gun. You may have a hard time affording ammo. Obama is a politician who wanted to change the laws to prosecute people who use guns for self-defense in the home and increase the tax on firearms by 500%. Guess that is why the guy at Benton Shooters Supply said he personally had sold 76 handguns this past week.

Where did you dig up this garbage? I have read one article from Obama when he said he wanted to get assault weapons off the streets but he didn't say anything about sporting guns, you know, the one's we all use to hunt with. Gang members don't want remingtons and winchesters or muzzle loaders or .22'sHow many hunters do you know that use assault weapons to hunt with, have you ever seen someone in the woods carrying one? Get real man. You have every right in the world to bash Obama about anything but at least be real about what you are bashing about. I haven't read where McCain wants to keep assault weapons on the streets, think about it.

HMMMM, I checked in a deer at a small business today, that's all they do, 40ish couple, been at it several years. He and his son love to hunt. He does taxidermy also. He right now, has no issue with ammo, he has diabetes (SP), found out this year. His insurance company went bankrupt. This does not affect me one bit money wise. They are the major processing plant (for deer)in Franklin county. I had time to listen to him. Sometimes, it's the over all pic. Just a thought.

Hey Doc, get out from under your sheets you are trying to peddle and turn off CNN and MSNBC. Look at any site on gun control. Go into any gun store. You want real evidence. Here it is... Chicago Defender 12/13/99 - Obama supported increasing taxes on firearms and ammunitions by 500 percent. Obama Campaing Website 12/11/07 - Obama supports a mandated national registry of ALL firearms owners. Illinois Senate Debate 3, 10/21/04 - Obama has supported banning hundreds of rifles and shotguns commonly used for hunting and sport shooting. S.397 Vote 217 - Obama voted to ban almost all rife ammunition used for hunting and sport shooting. S.397 Vote 219 - Obama voted to allow reckless lawsuits designed to put the firearms industry out of business. Obama was a board member of the anti-gun Joyce Foundation from 1994-2001. The Joyce Foundation IS the largest source of funding radical anti-gun groups and political causes in the US. Under his watch, the foundation donated 18.6 million dollars to around 80 anti-gun efforts. Groups receiving funds included Violence policy center, Ceasefire inc, Consumer Federation of America, and more than I care to type. On April 22, 2007 Obama voted for a ban on STANDARD capacity magazines. February 2008 Obama says he believes gun bans in DC and Chicago are constitutional. April 2, 2008 Obama states he opposes states Right to Carry laws. Need an example of costs...Right now, a rifle that a manufacturer sells for $500 carries a tax of $55. Under Obama's proposal, that tax would rise to $330. How long would that take to drive manufacturers out of business? I can go on and on, but maybe you can find all of this on your liberal research sites...

Tracing his record back, he has never once cast a vote in favor of our right to own and lawfully use guns. The landmark Heller decision by the U.S. Supreme Court--which struck down the D.C. gun ban and its attendant criminalizing of armed self-defense in the home--was decided by a one vote margin, in a 5-4 decision. The court's decision was aided by briefs filed by Congress and states--briefs signed by John McCain and by Palin's state of Alaska. The next president will probably appoint 1 or 2 justices. What will happen to that next time around? During theSaddleback forum, Obama attacked the nominations of Associate Justice Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia, author of theHeller decision. Counted with his “no” votes against judges Roberts and Alito, that's an Obama thumbs down for four of the five justices who rendered the Supreme Court's definitive decision upholding the Second Amendment as protecting an individual right and recognizing the right to armed self-defense in the home. Two liberal judges can change the decision.

There is an old saying I will not get into, but I am finished wasting my time with this. Instead of accusing people of gathering trash, you need to check where you are getting your facts. Go into any gun shop, and ask them why their sales are so brisk. I went into several today and got the same answer from everyone. People are getting it while they can.

BTW...I do not watch YouTube as apparently you do.

I believe you have been lurking on utube too much. BTW, do you use bed sheets, I still have some for sale at a bargain?

Ugh, I can't wait til this is over, but then again, I know how it's going to turn out and that scares the heck out of me too. I don't like the idea of a tax credit. What that means is that even if someone pays no taxes, like nearly a third of the country, they will get a check from the IRS. The tax break for the average American will be about $1,500, or about $29/ week. Now, if large companies like a grocery chain get hit with higher taxes, I've got a funny feeling that they aren't just going to eat that expense, they will pass it on to the consumers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the typical American family spends 13% of it's income on food. So for a family making $50k a year that's $6,500 or $125/ week. If this grocery store raises it's prices by just 10% to cover the cost of its additonal tax your weekly tax savings drops to about $16.50. Then if any other business decides to cover the increased tax (such as clothing stores, department stores, etc.) you will continue to see this savings drop until it actually becomes a deficit. Then the tax savings plan being offered actually becomes a burden on those it supposedly trying to help.

I would rather see a plan that is designed to boost the economy. Obama's plan is similar to one that George McGovern proposed a while back. It has also been proven by history that this sort of tax plan does not help the economy like it is intended to. So, if we take it at face value it sounds great but once you start crunching the numbers they just don't add up.

Some of you guys crack me up!!! You talk like you are the CEO of Exxon, when in reality you don't pull down more that 50K a year. But it sounds good though!

I believe that this is because a lot of people vote for what they believe is morally correct, and would be best for all. I personally would never just vote for the person that promises to save me more on my taxes.

Sorry... I couldn't help myself.
