Called in two gobblers right off the bat with Baylor , my grandson , missing one of the gobblers at twenty yards . He was shaking so bad it was no wonder he missed . Moved to another spot and located another long beard . This one wanted to play hard to get and circled around behind us . Chase tried to get a shot but spooked the old bird .
Moved to the other section of our lease and I got into a long conversation with a old hen . Called her in to about 8 feet of us . Finally she left and I decided to to keep calling to her hoping it would draw in a gobbler with all our calling . For once a plan worked . In the distance I could hear one gobbling . A few minutes later he had cut the distance in half and before I knew it I could hear him spitting and drumming . I looked at Chase and he was bringing his shotgun up to his shoulder . "BOOM" and the results are 21.5 lbs , 9 3/4 beard and 1 1/8 spurs . Pictures to follow of the turkey and camping trip.
