Well thats all I did today. First off it was warm and secondly, I have never seen the woods so green this early. As suspected the gobblers seemed hened up. No gobbling from roost (1st time ever on opening day!) About an hour after sunrise, I finally got one to answer on a ridge opposite of me. He answered a second call and off I went, I basically rolled down a ridge and before crossing the branch to his ridge, I called just to make sure they weren't close, and this time two answered. I made a big loop and ended up the ridge from where I last heard them and let her rip, they were about 100 yards belowe me and readily answered everything I threw at them they just never moved my way. I ronically they ended up moving onto the ridge I had just came off of before shutting up for the day. I never heard any hens cackling but I am sure that they were leading those toms away from my calls. It was a beautiful morning, and I am looking forward to the action as these hens get bread. I talked to several other buddies who had successful hunts and they said that their birds were hened up and not talking much either.
