Amazing how you got something TOTALLY different out of Obama's speach. This was the FIRST time I was not offended by what he said. Since you obviously didnt watch it or if you did, had it playing in Spanish, I will quote for you:

Obama pleaded with Americans not to "use this tragedy as one more occasion to turn on one another."

"At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized -- at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do -- it's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds,"

So I guess we all got our wish, you have decided not to follow Olbummer anymore and go your own way. Pretty wild you dont agree with him NOW after all the bad crap he's done.

Spur I was watching and listening and waiting for him to turn on the blame game but surprisingly it didnt happen.I will have to commend him on keeping the speech to what it should be, guess it just goes to show how low others that were pointing fingers have sank. But in the back of my mind I still know that he has to drift toward the center for his two year reelection campaign that has begun.

godless and evil are much better than thickheaded or nut case.

Are you sure? On this thread you sound like a Godless, thickheaded nut case. I'm not sure about evil but you are an liberal extremest and there are conservative extremest on here as well. Sometimes some of the extremest on here sound like they're only about a frog's hair from being like the shooter all are taking about in this thread and America. Generally extremests on both sides just sound like dumbasses to me about 95% of the time.

Liberal extremist? While my political views on issues are most certainly left of center and even take the liberal side, they are certainly NOT extremist. Taxes, role of gov't, homosexual rights, abortion, gun control, immigration reform, healthcare reform, or whatever topics we have discussed on this forum, my views and opinions have certainly been well within the lanes of modern political thought. It's funny though... some of the ones hammering me now, have expressed extreme right wing positions on a variety of topics. Here are some examples: Spur... recently compared being homosexual to being involved with pedophilia, and rape. Correct me if I'm wrong.... but I don't believe that is a mainstream view. Sniper... has consistently called almost every aspect of our gov't un-constitutional, from taxes, to social security, and everything in between. Again, not a mainstream political view. And last, but certainly not least, cheez. cheez has referred to the President as "a minion of satan himself", and described liberal views that conflict with his own religious beliefs as "straight from the gates of hell" Again, far away from the mainstream political thought. I also understand where I live, and these extreme views are very often the "norm", and not the "exception". So I guess that does actually make me a liberal extremist (to them), especially when you compare it to the types of extreme views I argue against on this forum.

My views for one are right in line with our Founding Fathers , our Constitution, and our Bill of Rights. If that has become extremist then it goes to show how much trouble our Nation is really in.

Tell me sniper..... since you believe in such a stringent view of the Constitution. Please tell us all your views on Article 1, Section2, Paragraph 3., and what our Founding Fathers intended for us.

Your getting as good as the liberal loons on TV Danny. I NEVER made that comparison, obviously you are reading another forum, not this one.

In the debate over gays in the military.
You said:
"where does the argument over sexual choice stop? Most pedophiles claim they cannot stop it, some rapists claim the same thing. How about those that engage in bestiality, Should all those be legal and accepted in society?"

I left out the"devils advocate" part, because saying that is just like saying "no pun intended" or "no offense", or "with all due respect" Just like in the movie "Talladega Nights", the boss says to Ricky Bobby.... you can't say anything you want to as long as you put "with all due respect" in front of it. Or in this case "devils advocate".

Im glad you can copy and paste, but NOWHERE do I say being gay makes you any of these. The reference was about the ability of making choices, please go read the thread you got this from. Again, as with this thread, you are making a jump to other things Danny, you really need to stay on target with your arguments.

You are reffering to the general wellfare clause.

Here's what Thomas Jefferson said: "Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated."

Madison added, "With respect to the two words 'general welfare,' I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators."

The legislative powers vested in Congress are specified and enumerated in the eighth section of the first article of the Constitution.

So Outcaster what do you think about the eighth section of the first article of the Constitution???

If believing EVERY word of the Holy Bible makes me an extremist then I reckon I am. Dang proud of it too!
Things are tough for us right now with the current political atmosphere of people who choose to live the way they want irregardless of what the Bible teaches. The good news is that I have read the end of the book. Guess what outcast and every other person who has perverted the Word of God. WE WIN!

For someone that claims to love and adhere to the US Constitution, you certainly don't know very much about it. Article 1, Section 2, paragraph 3 refers to owned slaves being counted as 3/5's of a whole person. Did you even bother to google it? Ok, I'll do it for you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-fifths_compromise Surely you don't want to strictly adhere to that portion of it. Hey! that's why we have Amendments, and broad interpretation. Turns out, if you can convince enough congressman, senators, and state legislators to amend and un-amend, the Constitution can be anything we want it to be.

Good grief Danny, you have let the venom cloud your eyes as you claim so many others have. Please go back and read that thread, absorb it, then you will clearly see where and why the reference. You and others claimed sexual preference is born into a person, and they cannot be changed by making a choice. I asked why OTHER sexuallifestyles, supposedly born into a person, are not accepted if its as you claim? Your good at research, check out how many pedophiles claim they cannot stop, that they were born with these desires and they just cant stop. Society puts them in jail, but why? As you back up their claims, they just cant make a choice to NOT do it, so we must now accept it, and like it.

And just like in that thread, (you have started your own this time), and while spewing your hate, your making a jump from political discourse to murder. You can claim the high road on this one, but that dog wont hunt, you 100% knew you were claiming that he killed a Democrat because of her politics, and his political beliefs. You were wrong. Now, just like the ones you claim are haters, your hate wont allow you to admit you jumped the gun, made uncorroborated links about the crime and motives.

I just assumed you were talking about the General Welfare Clause since I addressed slavery and equal rights when I included the Bill of Rights in my original post. Let me see if I can get the #s right for you Amendment 13 ratified in 1865 abolished slavery. Don't quote me on that since I didn't google it. Back to my original question. What do you think about the eighth section of the first article of the Constitution??? What are the enumerated powers?? Can we just forgo these at this point?? Is anything unconstitutional?

Spur you should know by now that if you have a differing opinion from a liberal you spew hate. If a liberal has a differing opinion it is simply enlightenment. emorolleyes

So if I were to say....... I like women with blond hair and big boobs.... whether it's born into me or not. It would be completely ok for you to then say....."where does the argument over sexual choice stop? Most pedophiles claim they cannot stop it, some rapists claim the same thing. How about those that engage in bestiality, Should all those be legal and accepted in society?"
No one said you had to like it, or agree with it. But to avoid being viewed as someone out of the mainstream of ideas, you do need to accept it. That's what people in the "mainstream" do. They respect the right of others, even when they disagree, or dislike them. BTW 78% of Americans, the Joint Chiefs, and the Sec of Defense are all in favor allowing gays to openly serve in the military. So yes, that clearly does put you outside the mainstream.

Sure you have. My ideas are quite mainstream. Matter of fact many of my ideas are shared by more than 50% of Americans. Now by "mainstream" if you mean the mainstream media then you would be correct. However the "mainstream" media is far and away out of touch with the real thoughts of the majority of Americans. They skew any poll to make liberalism appear to be what the majority of people want. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
