I do not usually push the big box retailers over the little guys but I thought it was worth mentioning that Dick's has all their fishing tackle clearance and several other catagories on for 25% off the lowest marked down price. My better half wanted to go to Stein Mart so I went to Dick's. emoAngel I got a couple good deals for about 25% of normal retail with the extra markdown on top of the current markdown. emoTongue Jmax

The store still shows rifles. The only fact I've ever been able to find are that they suspended the sales on the 18th of Dec and it looks like some stores are pulling the " modern Black rifle" aka...Ar15 type stuff. Screw them. Support local mom and pop stores and not these BIG Nation Wide Stores!! They need it worse than Dicks or any other big chain! You should know that Jim after the insurance post you started. :)

Dang Billy, as I stated, "I do not usually push the big box stores", but a deal is a deal. I always try and buy it local at the mom and pop places first. Just hard to pass up on a good deal on tackle.emoThumbsup If you don't like that idea don't go. emoRolleyes Jmax

I was in Dicks this past weekend and they had rifles and shotguns in the racks. One guy was looking at a shotgun. I didn't see any signs that the guns were not for sale?

I shop at Dick's but not as much as I used to. I have the "score" card and get money gift certificates in the mail for points. I used to offer to let customers in front of me use my card if they didn't have one and I would RACK up. Now they moved the cash registers way up and you have to stay back and wait so I cant do that any more and the selection is better at other places.

dicks quit selling guns to i hear. i will not support people like that period.

False info. At least according to my Dick's manager friend (in MD). One store close by in Conn suspended sales. Otherwise all others stayed open.

One of the anti-gun goals is to drive the retailers out of business with restrictions, making it too much of a hassle and too expensive to sell firearms. K-Mart quit selling guns a long time ago. Two years ago, I went to the K-Mart in Cleveland to put up a poster for a Hunter Educatio class. The lady at the CS desk said the manager would have to review it first. I went back about three days later- nothing!
A good way to combat this is to contact those stores metnioned and tell them why you refuse to patronize their store. Get others to do the same.

Thanks for the info Jim. I'm going to be out that way tomorrow may have to check it out.emoThanks I was almost afraid to to read this post when I saw the subject line

Billy you can't support mom and pops gun stores either... Go to Benton Shooters Supply and look at the outrageous prices they are asking ...$60 bucks for a box of .22 shells that Academy sells for $18.99... It's so sad out how people are trying to make money off of this. Academy sports is the only honest gun store in this area. They had Pmags in last week... Limit 6 for $14.99 each.... Most Mom and pops are trying to get $40 to $100 bucks... Everyone needs to remember these money grubbers when this is over!

According the the guy at the store in Chattanooga they were suspending "assault-type rilfe" sales pending legislation. They screwed many on the Troy AR's, which they sold for $799 and even took backorders for. The week before Christmas they cancelled everyone's backorders. This was after AR type riles had tripled in price.</p>

Apparently, they stacked them in the back room and are not allowed to sell them because they are concerned about the public image.

In addition to the scary black rifles, semi-auto 12 gauge shotguns are also forbidden by the management.

The plan for all these weapons of individual destruction is to be sold back to their respective manufacturers at a financial loss to Dick's.
