I haven't read the article yet but there is an article by our very own rsimms about the bass population in Chickamauga. It's good news from what little I have read and the pic of DK and DHaun was a good one. With the large stringers that have already been caught this year and the numbers of really quality fish that have been pictured here in the CFF posts it may be a banner year for Chickamauga.

I guess I need to make you buy a paper to read the article emoEvil, but here's the picture.

I just now saw the picture of our own Drumking and Dhaun in the paper myself. Nice picture guys. An even nicer article written by Richard. Thanks to all. We should have great fishing ahead in 2008 in our area. Ain't it great to be living here?emoToast emoToast

I remember that day that we caught all those bass. We were striper fishing and Rsimms caught the only one of the day.

I remember that day too...It was a really great trip with a lot of feeding activity. Richard caught a great fish on 8lb line while we both hooked up and then lost stripers that day. That picture reminds me I did more watchin than catchin though...and ended up watching you all wear out the bass! :)

Not only those two are in the paper today, but also our very own Al Slater a.k.a. Fat Albert. He's on the upper right hand corner of the classifieds section with his grandchildren. After seeing these 3, I realized I wasn't reading a newspaper, I was reading a comic book. Just kidding guys.

Great article in the Times Richard. Thanks for explaining to many how the lake is working. You covered the habitat issues, with food sources, Florida Bass stocking efforts by TWRA and water level. We fishermen and women control none of this and we need to all realize that. Weather plays a big part of how each year class does. However, TVA and the CORP playing with the lake levels like the past few weeks does not help the fish. Why they dumped all of that water when the Ohio, and MS rivers were at records levels just does not make one think their mode for the river is very good. I would think others in the west would like to talk to TVA. I know they need to run the Hydo units to keep our rates steady, but yesterday they had the Cooling Towers on at Sequoyah. Why they did not do a slow release is anyone's guess. Dropping the lake two feet last week is not good for anything this time of time of the year. Heck does TVA not know we are in a drought? Maybe we can write TWRA and ask them to go after TVA again to help stable the water levels on the lake in the spring. This is the one thing that can be control, but the powers at be do not.

I beg to differ, I gave $ for the Florida bass stocking project, & I know a great deal of people who did, so therefore Some of us, men & women, had something do with the status of Chickamauga Lake.

Great article and pics guys! By the way, DK's hat looks like he stole it from Walter Matthau in 'Grumpy Old Men.'emoBigsmile

That movie was the inspiration for buying the hat. It is one of my favorite movies and wintertime hats too.
