My dock was beaten up last fall in that bad wind storm that hit Jasper/South Pittsburg. I finally have the cash from the insurance company and have a significant amount of dock work to be done. The dock is about 2 miles down-river from Sullivans on Nickajack. If anyone can recommend a dock builder that can drive pilings, etc., I'd appreciate the info. Thanks in advance for the help.

Check with the manager of Hales Bar Marina, they build docks all the time, they might be able to do this or know of someone that does.

Not mine in the back of Bennett Lake. Mine is 4 docks up-river from Mullins cove on left hand side. It was completely blown in and laying in the river. My dad and I drug it out of the water and salvaged what lumber we could. Now we would like to rebuild and build farther out past the milfoil. We might even re-do some weathered parts depending on cost.

I have a couple of names for you:

Larry Ray 344-0001
Dave Smith 332-9400

Both are on Chickamauga but I assume they would go down river. I have not seen any work that Larry Ray does but I have seen Dave Smith's work. Smith does great, first class work. When I was starting my dock neither would just drive the pilings, they wanted the entire package. Work may be slower now.

Thutch, that flat in front of your place goes for a long way before it hits the river channel....any idea how long it will have to be to get to 10-12 feet of water?

I'll call the previously mentioned builders. I'd prefer someone do the entire project so I'm not stuck hammering when the fishing is good. You have to go out about 125-150 feet from the shore to get to 10 feet of water. My dock is, I guess, about 100 feet right now. I haven't measured it but want to go out about another 20-30 feet so I can pull up to the dock without driving through the milfoil in the summer. If the price is right I plan to build 2 levels on a large platform and re-do the two boat slips. I suspect most of the work will have to be done by barge. Thanks for your help fellas.
