I fired up the new(ish) Inferno Red Dodge Ram Bighorn 4x4 and backed her up to the boat trailer. Only 2 relatively small dents in the chrome bumper later, and having exhausted my entire repertoire of expletives, I was finally hooked up and on my way to the river. The truck tows the boat like a dream, and the visibility is great when backing up (except for not being able to judge where the hitch is in relation to the newly dented - twice - chrome bumper).
The temps on the river were terrific this morning, and the wind, although a bit strong, kept the sun from feeling too hot. I used the trolling motor to control the speed and used the "spot lock" feature to hold my position when I found fish. Unfortunately, there were only little fish to find today, with my best being about 7 pounds. Still, I was thrilled to get out again after all of this heat. Lots of folks out today for the catfish and great times.
I had to try 3 times to get the boat on the trailer with the stiff crosswind at the ramp. That flat bottom on the bay boat sure sails sideways easily. Of course, there was a boat waiting for me to finally get it right, so he could load up after me. Sheesh!
I took one fish pic for your viewing pleasure, and one pouty-faced, lower-lip hanging out shot of Mr. I-just-dented-my-new-chrome-bumper - TWICE.
