I was wanting to know if you had to have some kind of special permission to plant brush ?

TWRA3305 - 12/26/2007 9:33 PM Harrison Bay Park's new pier will be priority.....we did it in the past but they built a new dock and all the trees are gone. I am delivering some trees there in the next few days! Any advice on the Soddy Lake pier? I know it is shallow in the summer but would it not be worth putting at least some trees there????

Matt, I guess your talking about the metal pier across from the boat slips? I wonder how that will work since its all dry there this time of year, wont the trees be kinda sticking up out of the water even at full-pool?

Hi Matt,

I was planning to contact TWRA later this week for a conservation project just like this or others for our Cleveland Junior Bass Club to help on. We have 15 kids in the club at present and I'm sure that most of them would like to help as well as some of their parents.

Please email me, give me a call, or come by Smokey Mountain Tackle (423) 472-1800 so we can discuss details.

emoToast Kudos to all those CFF'ers that are willing to help out on conservation.

Thanks,
Dewayne

OK, Let's Shoot for this coming Saturday January 5th at Harrison Bay State Park for our fish attractor work. If any of you have trees, you can drop them off there at the new pier across from the marina. You will see where TWRA has already dropped about 100 or so there already. Whatever trees are left, you guys come prepared to haul them to your secret spots. Let's meet about 12:00 noon. That will give most of you time to catch some fish early before we work.

Yes, the trees will be out of the water now but will provide much needed cover for fish when the water does come up, which is when most of the people use this pier. I have seen 15-20 people at a time using this pier in the summer.

To answer some of your questions, I know of nothing preventing anyone from putting brush in the lake provided there is no navigational hazard. It still may be wise to check with someone from TVA about what you are putting in the lake and where.

See you all there!

Is there any requirement to bring your own boat? I'm not sure if I will be working on the 5th or not, but I won't have a boat for sure. I would like to help if I can get away for a while.

I think I can answer that one Adam, as at least the HBSP pier is dry right now, and no matter what hands are needed to carry trees to the right place also.

Ok. I don't have hip waders, but I might manage to find some muddin' boots...I'll try to be there if work doesn't insist on my presence.

I have a question. How deep does the water have to be to place those trees? Also, can you place the trees around the little cove on the south east side of the 58 bridge at Wolftever. this would be to the right side of the north bound lanes of hwy 58. There is never any boat traffic in that little cove. With a few trees scattered in that area it would make good bank fishing spot.

I've caught fish in 6 inches of water before,so, if they're placed with the water at winter pool that should be plenty.

Will there be any trees to be put out from Chester Frost on Saturday?
If so, where would they want them put?
I hope to be able to help but would prefer to work from Chester Frost but
I could cross the river if need be. ...........Hal - Signal Mtn.

I just found out I have to be a basketball coach at 1:00 for the kids. Does anyone know how long this project will take? I would still like to come by and help if I can.

The fishing project was a success but there were few volunteers. JCV (I think was the screen name) was there with his daughter, Ashley (age 4). A good time was had by all.

Thanks for being there Tony! I came by about 2:45 and you guys were just hanging the last tree. I sure wish I could have come at 12:00. We all owe ya!

Matt, if we can have a little bit more notice the next time I think we'll have more volunteers. It was a bad weekend with everyone coming out of Christmas and New Years week. Let us know if you plan another one.
