Well I went to by my first fish/depth finder to go up front. Got a Humminbird 525 - pretty simple. Anyway being a newer boater I didnt think about the transducer, I just thought about a good display with options and features, at a great price. Well I get my transducer as I prepare to install and realize I've got to drill. For some maybe not a big deal...me I become nauseated, feeling light headed. Its my new boat...new to me any how. Well its a 98 Nitro and the original finder has its tranducer thru the hole. I open the back compartment where the batteries and gas tank are and its mounted on the inside on the bottom...much better no holes on the transom, as recommended. To the point, what are my options, is there any piece or adaptor I can use to keep it the transducer inside, maybe another transducer for that model. Or will I need to make an exchange? Or am I screwed all the way. I dont really want to mount on trolling motor. Thanks for any help guys. Take care.

If it's a skimmer transducer you can still mount inside the hull, had a H/B 300tx and mounted inside and it eorked fine ,just have to make sure it's level and use good epoxy,pm me if ya need help.

Thanks Doc,
I will give that a try. As far as it being a skimmer transducer, not completely sure about that. For the most part it kind of looks like small radar detector or fuzz buster that goes on the winshield above the dash in cars. Thats the best I can do with that. Im learning.
Thanks again. I'll probably send you a message before long.

One option is to laminate a piece of marine board on your transome, (no holes drilled) then you attach your transducer to it.
