TAKE OUR SURVEY - Last year Bassmaster Magazine ranked Chickamauga Lake as the 6th Best Bass Lake in the nation.

However Fishhound.com disagrees, saying Chickamauga Lake ranks #42.

Read the details at the follow link and at the end is a link where you can TAKE OUR SURVEY to express your opinion on where Chickamauga should be ranked: http://bit.ly/1gFCkpg

Or skip the short read and go directly to the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GCHJGT5

This lake is terrible. It really is major over ranked. There is nothing but little bass in here with some really creative photos being taken. All this stuff about these monster stringers and it taking over 30 lbs to win a tournament are just wishful thinking on some folks who are wan-na-bees. I think all these people who have been flooding our lake need to pick one of the other lakes listed and go there. Yep, just stay out of the Chick, for that matter the Nick too. Only little bass, stay away! I think they have it ranked too high at #42. emoEvil Jmax

(Oh crap, was that lighting?)

So Dale Hollow is considered better than Chaickamauga? I dont think Ive ever heard that opinion. Oh well. Keep dropping Chickamauga in rankings so people leave it alone. Haha.

Ive never been to Dale Hollow, may have to make a trip there now. So you see, these rankings do affect the places that people fish. Im also going to try to hit Pickwick this year since its ranked so high.

I dont see how it made the top 100.. the chick is horrible fishing , dont bother wasting your time! Lol

Here's what the survey reveals so far.

55% say it does belong in the Top 10, if not #1.

25% say it's not Top 10, but it's better than #42. 19% say Fishhound.com got it right. And "No, of course there is nothing scientific about this emoBigsmile).

I will say that I'm a little worried about Chick. I'm not positive it has the resources to maintain the level of fishing we have become accustomed to under the increased amount of pressure it is receiving right now. Guntersville has become famous and known worldwide over the years and that is due in large part to its ability to maintain "hog heaven" status through insane amounts of fishing pressure. This is due to the immense vegetation and food sources for big bass. I like to think Chick is getting close to that level it it's obviously not there yet. Hopefully with the TWRA stocking and maintenance efforts we will be soon. Only time will tell.

I would like to see a report that details the region for each vote. Is it locals or out-of-towners that feel the lake is so hot? Or vice versa for the low ranking?

Chickamauga has an unquestionably immense forage base. It sometimes amazes me that we're able to catch anything at all.

Go to the numerous Texas bass fishing forums and you'll read numerous reports about how Falcon Lake has declined significantly in the past few years. Causes suggested include drought, cormorants, and alligator gar the size of freight trains.

These fish will never run out of food. They may become tougher to catch with all the pressure, but it's insane the amount of shad in this lake. I don't see how you ever catch one, when they can cruise through a school of 1000 shad whenever they please.

My personal two cents worth... and from conversations I know that at least some biologists agree with me -- We never REALLY know or understand all the variables that make a fishery go boom or bust. There is no doubt that forage base and Florida bass experiment have helped Chickamauga go "Boom!" But the crappie have gone "Boom!" as well, and obviously you can't credit that to the Florida bass experiment.

There are simply too many variables in an aquatic ecosystem for us to fully comprehend. Humans can do minimal stuff to try and impact it... size limits, stocking, etc. But if or when the fishery goes bust again, don't be surprised and don't blame any one thing or anybody. It's a mysterious universe underwater and we will never fully be able to understand it, much less control it.

Just be sure and ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS! emoBeer

Dale hollow is a world class smallmouth lake not really known for largemouth but the last bfl 2 weeks ago over 3200 lbs of bass weighed in and not one sm. 40th place was over 17 lbs. 6 0f the top 10 sm ever caught came from the holler so its not to shabby of a lake.
