so the CBA met with the director of parks and rec for Hamilton Co. last night. The guy was super nice, unlike Rusty described. He is just doing his job and the decision was made over his head, in the Mayor's office based on the direction of the health department who was alerted to the situation by the Channel 9 news story. Here's the facts I know;
There were not 400 people in the tournament (200 is what I estimated and I was there)
There was about 75 boats
There was a ton of other spectators and other boaters out doing what they do on Saturday's around here
A local fisherman who doesnt like out of state tournaments blew the whistle - Steve Kite
The local news media (CH. 9) blew this out of proportion to get a "Gotcha" on Hamilton Co. and the tournament fishermen - Yes they did. Reporter was butthurt over how he was treated over his one-sided questions.
calling the Mayor's office or the director of parks and rec will only make things worse at this point - I would call ALL my politicians, from County Commissioners up.
CBA will go on as scheduled out of Grasshopper, and we will be doing our "corona" protocols. Be looking for announcements from the officers real soon about details.
Being one the of the people involved in the tournament Saturday Justin is 100% correct, there was little over 200 people there and other than the top 5 photo everyone did a decent job staying away from each other. Most of you mouthing off here were not there and know nothing other than what you saw on the news and just want to stir shit so get off your high horse. These are high school kids that just wanted to finish their year and thanks to one of your TN fisherman this is all a mess now, not some kids from GA. The news was contacted by one of your own, they did not bother to mention anything about the other 400 to 500 people gathered in the park, piled on the play areas and picnic tables but why would they bother reporting the entire story.
