While the real point of concern should have been Bin Laden. .

What would be different today if we killed Bin Laden? How many other Bin Ladens are out there waiting to take his place? Dont get me wrong here...I agree we should not go invading countries acting as a "police force"....I think we should concentrate more on our defense system. Unfortunately sometimes our defense has to be an offense. I dont know the answer....it looks like just about every country hates the good ol USA. Im still proud to be an American....and if it came to it...I would lay down my life so that my family would still have this land to live on!![/QUOTE]

So are you saying we should not have retaliated at all for 9/11. Just let it go? I think I know what you mean. I think there were probably lots of things we could have done differently. You are right about Bin Laden, not sure it would have changed things that much. I just don't think you take the approach we took. But listen to the Republicans on here and they are the only ones to ever have defended this country or have the legitimate right to go to war. My memory I guess is better than others, I know what Clinton went through with that bunch everytime he used military action.

Possum what they heck are you talking about? Were talking about Truman dropping the A-bomb not once but twice on the Japs and I refuse to get into the whole Iraq thing with you. It wouldn't do any good anyway.

The bottom line is Clinton and Bush II basically ignored the growing threat of Alqeada during there terms before 911. We had an excellent ally in the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and both Presidencies refused to fund them adequately. We even didn't listen to there warnings of attacks before 911. Sounds a lot like the Christmas day undie bomber to me. I guess we are back to pre 911 mentality.

Back to my original assessment the Libs of today don't have the Kahonas to do what Truman did to end WWII

Just so you forgot.

Poor ole republicans, can't get a toe hold in this world, loosers from the word go, whiners and gripers, spout doom and gloom, worrying about christmas tree ornaments, Obama's dog, Obama's vacation, made Rush go to the hospital full of hot air and gas, Palin quits her governor's job to go on a book tour. No fair haired up.

You forgot to call everybody by a name, you know, liberal, commie, or babykiller because you have nothing of merit to discuss. emoParty

I'll leave the name calling to you republicans and fence stradlers. The republican party has never done anything to help the working class people in the USA, never but you republicans want them in office again to do nothing. You had 8 years to do something good but you didn't but you want them back. Why? To start more unneccessary wars, borrow more from china? The republican party is for the rich in this USA and the rich only, they helped big oil, they helped haliburton, but they didn't help the working man and you want to be included so you call yourselves republican. I don't think there are any super rich on this forum, there are a bunch who want to be rich. The democrats have always been for the working man. Obama is for the working man, he is trying to get health care for the working people, he has cut your taxes, extended your unemployment to name a few, trying to make jobs but you don't want him to do this, you want him to do it the republican way and that is to do nothing. Go back in history and find a republican predident or congressman that has helped the working class people, you won't find him and you never will.

Outcaster you know the types that run the W.H.O. You really think our healthcare compares to Cuba. Really? I work healthcare everyday I supply durable medical equipment to individuals going home from the hospitals so I know what the heck im talking about. You can be a homeless person on the street have a heart attack be admitted to the hospital with no insurance and get as good as care as anyone in the country. You can get an EKG, echocardiogram, angioplasty, stints, heart caths, etc.. all with no way of paying. Public hospitals cannot legally turn people away for lack of finances or any other reason. As a matter of fact the nurses and doctors are prohibited from knowing the patient's financial status to prevent any bias in an emergency situation. So tell me who in this country cannot get healthcare if they need it. No one is ever denied care if they seek it.

Thats true if someone can drag you to the emergency room. It`s kinda hard to make an appointment and see a doctor without some kind of insurance, unless you have the ability to pay.Lots of folks do not seek medical attention when they should because they don`t have the money.Corperate America runs this country,I wonder how much less your prescriptions would cost if the drug companies would stop spending money on television and magazine adds. It`s not a democrate or republican thing .the system has to be changed.Only the People, the owners of this country, can make America strong again.

Snipercoke likes to talk about kahonas and who has them and who doesn't. I like the testicular fortitude President Obama has to take on the big healthcare industry, the pharmacy industry, who are spending billions to stop it. By the way: Why do you think we have a Medicare system at all? Its because the health insurance companies can't make huge profits insuring elderly people, they have been allowed to cherry pick and cover only the most healthy segments of our society. Till Now! Taking on this issue has of course hurt his poll numbers (as Cheez so gleefully points out). The pockets of the healthcare conpanies run very deep, maybe even deeper than the President expected. Which brings me back to good ole Harry S. Truman. He had some of the lowest public opinion polls in history when he was trying to racially integrate the military, and had to issue an Executive Order to do so. He did so because it was the right thing to do even though Congress (controlled by Dixiecrats and Republicans) gave him no support. Finally fixing healthcare IS the right thing to do. That's one of the things this President was elected to do. Maybe the other side should have worked harder in the last election to convince the American people that the healthcare system was just fine. I, for one am glad to see him take these guys on, something no President, Democrat or Republican in recent history has had the kahonas to do.

Somehow I think the Big Healthcare Industry will make out AOK with Olbummer in office.

Do you know that Obama received the most donation from health care industry...

If this wonderful healthcare bill is so great...for the life of me...why is it being shoved thru behind closed doors...in the wee hours of the night. Kinda like a thief operates. Those that votes for Obama....I hope that you are getting that CHANGE!!!! But wait...DODD/DORGAN..and more are BAILING on the Democrat Party.

All I can say is Wow. I normally enjoy an intelligent argument about political philosophy, but this is getting ridiculous. Someone posts praising a democratic president of the past, and the democrat "goon squad" (you know who you are) somehow still finds a way to turn it into a middle school level pissing contest. You guys act like we're talking about college football. This is our frapping country! Republicans are pretty much always viewed as the close minded party, which is unfortunately true in many instances. But on this forum, some of the democratic posters have proven to be the most close minded and immature bunch I have ever seen.

Now, you may commence in calling me a conservative cry baby...

So how have democrats proved to be the most closed minded and inmature bunch you have ever seen Rattletrap. Lets here it.
#1 My words were meant to discribe several outspoken members on this forum, not all Democrats.
#2 For support of what I said, find anything that Doc1 has posted.

If I could find anything good that the republican party has ever done, I would report on it, can't find anything, can't report on it. Maybe you republicans can help me out and post all of these fine things that your party has done, I have asked for this long list before but no one has come up with it.

It's simple Spur, you give the most $$ to ones you don't yet have in your pocket. Bet they want their money back now.

That's is the most stupid thing I have ever heard! You obviosly are a few bricks short of a full load. It takes a lot of $$ to afford to campaign. Companies, industries, lobbyist or whatever put their money behind the candidates that support what they want! I personally think all of these contributions should be made illegal. These contributions would be much more effective if they were paid to employees as additional wages or even given to charity. At least the money would get back into the economy then.

SNUFFY - 1/6/2010 9:16 PM

most major corporations give money to both candidates or at least both parties...check the records

By reading some of his posts Beetlespin seems to be a shoot from the hip kinda guy, facts be damned. Did he sleep thru 9th grade civics class or just skip? At least with sniperchoke, and spur, we can have a corherent discussion.
