i have 7 taurus and all are great the are all 9mm i have had them for a long time and have had no trouble at all with any of them the pt92afs does not like to feed black tallons to well but all other hollow points work well and it will hold up to p+p all day long the keltec will bite you if you have big hands and the triger pull is to much i really like my sig p6 i have it on my belt or in my paints or some part of my cloths 99% of the time you can get a good used one for around 325 / 350 but it is only 9 shots but it is very dependable or the secret service would not use them

Would just like to says thanks for all the replies so far... this has been a wealth of knowledge for me and extremely helpful.

I am surprised no one has mentioned the H&K USP models. Nice guns I like the feel of them myself.

I have owned alot of pistols, and if I were buying one it would be a GLOCK spend a little more for a good one.

I will throw another vote for a Glock 23 or 27. I like the mid size 23 more but find myself carrying the 27 since its a little smaller. You may want to shoot a Glock in .40 if you haven't before you spend the money. I hear alot of people say the recoil is too much for them and they end up going with a 9mm. The .40 aint' bad though when you get used to it.

What about a Springfield XD? I don't have one, but have heard a few positive comments about them and nothing negative yet. I am also looking for a different gun to carry. Based on this post, looks like I need to look at the glock, but wondered how it compared to the XD. Thanks......Jim

I like a glock better than the XDs. It's all personal preference though. Ask some friends that may have some of these pistols if you can shoot them. That way you can see what is comfortable in your hand. I used to always carry a Glock 27 but have switched to a Ruger LCR, just for the weight and size. you can't go wrong with a glock however, H & K is also a good choice if you want to part with some cash.

Any thoughts on Rugers 380 ACP?

I'm small framed and will have to settle for a 380. Can't conceal a 9 mm as they are too bulky.

I just got a Sig Sauer P 250 9MM subcompact a couple of weeks ago and and really like the size. Fits easily in jacket pocket or the waist band in the crack of you butt. Unusual in that you can take the guts out in one piece and put them in a couple of different larger frames.....why you would want to is beyond me. They offer a set with 2 frames and the action as a package . I`ve hunted all my life but never really shot a pistol hardly at all....managed to put 10 out of 11 in a 18"x18" box the first few shots out of the box at about 15 yards. 2 of those shots were cowboy style from the hip. Kick is not bad at all with the target /range loads (115gr.??)....will be curious to see about the heavier loads. I wish the grip was a half an inch longer....little finger just gets about half on the grip. I`m hoping I can maybe find a slightly longer clip. This one is a 11/shot clip ...... I like it so far..

I also found out my arm isn`t long enough see the the 3 little circles on the sights clearly........that sux.........I`ve been wearing cheaters to weld for years....now I`ve had to have some made for arms length.....

getting old sux !

Where is fugates?

Fugates on Hwy 11 just past Hardees on the right in Calhoun TN. Great people for sure, they know there stuff and good prices. Better then Bentons Shooters IMO. I bought a S&W M&P .45 from them last year.

I have XD9 & bro has Glocks. Not much difference in performance IMO. They are both great guns.

I went to Sportsman's today and looked at what they had. They had a little XD subcompact in 9mm that felt pretty good in my hand to be a smaller frame gun. They had a glock that I liked too, but kinda leaning toward the XD right now (from the small amount of guns I have looked at) unless I hear something performance wise to scare me off. I'd really like to carry a 45, but just a little too big to carry it seems and the ammo is expensive - especially for the amount of practice I'll need!!! Gonna check out some more gun stores and see what's available. Thanks....Jim
