one of the BIG problems we currently have in this world is that our history is being/has been corrupted and erased.

the other is that people arent ALLOWED to have conversations about potentially sensitive subjects.

how are we as a people ever going to get past this situation without violence if we cant talk to and educate each other about these things?

This really smart dood once said, ""Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." (George Santayana)

Rusty - gotta keep in mind that the very generations doing this are, in large part, the same generations who grew up receiving participation trophies. No winners or losers. Wish it was that way during the shooting events you and I were a part of. When you say 'truth hurts' to this generation they immediately assume you're calling them a loser. Maybe if we come up with a way to get them to participate in truth they'll get it. It would be a big move in the right direction.

What happens when the government doesn't come to get the "guns" which are lumped together with shotguns , pistols , and deer rifles? The "guns" are military style weapons that really shouldn't be in the hands of the general uneducated public. There is a reason shoulder launched missiles , grenades , heavy artillery are not sold at Wal-Mart , sportmans, and Academy. It's because that's what would get used in crimes involving the so called guns being described now, and become the next thing the government was going to come get. If people want these kind of guns the recruitment office is open everyday. Enlist and they will give you one and all the other shit that's not sold over the counter . They will even give you someone to shoot them at . Now only catch is who ever they provide you to shoot them at also can shoot the same thing back and then at that point being in close combat quarters you can get the full experience of why those type of weapons don't need to be in everyday folks hands. We have already tried the old west once and it didn't work out for some reason or the other but some people just want to relive the glory of the past. Maybe if we cleaned out the trash in this country once and for all we wouldn't need to be armed to the teeth. This bunch of idiots that stormed the capital is reason enough to stop all this shit about the "government is coming to get me". These people took their guns there and what did they use them on ? Cops that they pretend to love and support until they get in their way . People need to go to work pay their bills and enjoy life instead of all this conspiracy theory shit.

Well, let’s see if we can put a little more emphasis on “civil conversation”. Who exactly defines who the “trash” is?Is it going to be someone who disagrees with us or maybe a foreigner that runs a nail salon or goes to a different church or lives in Cleveland? How about some fool cruiser driver on Chick on the weekends?( Not a suggestion by the way) Is cleaning to be full elimination or maybe a redirection to more meaningful contribution to new construction like roads or civil camps or new farms for the good of the public. I recall only one person being shot due to a perceived threat by government personnel. There might have been more, I just don’t remember. Surely a more accurate truthful version is forthcoming from our government. That’s the government that is currently proposing multiple gun control acts in Congress, many of which go well beyond grabbing military style arms. That term includes the venerable 1903 Springfield from WWI. That rifle has killed many a deer over the last 100 years. So the good reps from Ca.,N.Y. Ill. Mass. etc will make the decision for you. REALLY!?? The attempt to invade the Capitol couldn’t have been more wrong and perpetrators at all levels should pay due to the illegal action. We’ll all be ok with new tax proposals, because none of us will reach Joe’s $400K minimum, but the “nose of the camel” is in the tent already. Assumption and lack of facts supporting opinions won’t contribute a bit to coming together as a country. Do I trust the government? Maybe- just not all the time

So...you have proof that people took guns into the march on the capital? No you don't. Even Congress had to admit that they did not find one person with a firearm of any type.

where to start, chronologically i guess:

Airborne: the mods/admins of this forum are of our age/generation, some older.

just WOW!! who thinks they have the right to decide what another should own? be like someone telling you you can only own spinning rods! "getting rid of all the trash" who decides whats trash? it wont be you that makes that decision and what happens if they decide you and your family are the trash? youre gonna wish you had equal firepower to defend yourself and your family. perhaps you should take a closer look at the picture above, of the Russian soldier shooting the Polish Jew mother while she tries to shield her child. brief history lesson and the numbers vary depending on the source but Stalin killed 9million, Hitler 6 million and Mao killed 30 to 60 MILLION people AFTER they disarmed them! and currently the saudi coalition killing yemenis, chinese killing the uyghurs and isrealis killing and displacing the palestinians.
The Constitution IS the written law of the land, any law contrary to it is null, US Supreme court has ruled on this more than once.(natural law is above all). the NFA was/is BS when it was passed and we the people have been too lame to fight it! the govt is already taking weapons from the people without due process, ever heard of red flag laws? you may want to do some research, HAMMERS are used more in crime than AR style rifles. the vast majority of folks that would buy the military grade weaponry arent doing it to commit crimes, its to protect themselves, family and property from the biggest criminals on the planet and their thug enforcers, or maybe because they just like them.

the words "shall not be infringed" meant that the people should have the same weaponry as the government so that they could defend themselves against the govt.

oh yeah, and the idea that folks should just go along being good little tax slaves is how we got this far! its past time for folks to wake up!

some people discredit the use of memes but the old adage of "a picture is worth a thousand words" and there a re very few ways to get a point across as well as historical images with pointed text

Oh I have already shot most of those . I quit shooting mine over 24 years ago it was becoming a really bad habit.

While we are on history lessons can anyone name the greatest military blunder U.S. military every made in their entire history?

Yeah battle little bighorn reason why we don't have 7th cavalry any more. Now this is strictly an opinion and might be more of a government policy than laying blame on military as their blunder . Letting Russians capture Berlin in wwII. With capturing Berlin they also captured all Nazi war documents , technology , and propaganda . Before the war the Russians were pretty harmless but two or three years after the problems start and we have been dealing with it ever since. 80% of our problems we deal with now from a foreign policy stand point is because of this.

Ummm, not quite. 7th (US) Cavalry has 6 active squadrons in the force today - one air, four ground, and one support. I earned my spurs in 2-7 CAV while stationed at FT Hood.

Airmobile, the only way to fly. Would have been nice if the slicks had better protection from small arms ground fire though. Chinese M67 could do a number on an air frame with enough impacts.

It is terrible when a country tries to rewrite its history. The things that happened are in the past. If you try to erase the things you are ashamed of, future generations run the risk of repeating them. Good or Bad this is still the greatest country in the world. I can honestly say there is NO OTHER country I would move to. I am PROUD to call AMERICA my home.
