Ol Spur hit me up in a text asking me to go. Every single time he has ever invited me, I've had weekend plans or was hunting with someone else. Now that we lost our 300 acres...I sorta have more time to go to other areas.

We get up there just a bit late and Erik drives his diesel right up into the area with the stands. LOL. I've heard of 4 wheeling up an area and walking to the stand but I was literally dropped off 4 feet from mine. I wont complain though....Seems it didn't effect anything at all.

I'm in the stand and no sooner than I'm situated and comfortable, I have 4 walk in to the plot. 1 good doe was in the mix and I took a quick range scan. 30 yards..ought to be good with this Crossbow. I made 1 adjustment on my rail and sent one flying....just right over her back. I swear I seen hair get shaved. Wondering what the heck because I know I can drive nails with this thing...I remembered that 1 turn on my adjustment rail goes from 20 to 35 yards. Dont ask me why but it does. So there went 15 bucks into the deep thick woods.

So after sitting there pondering how nice it would have been to have some meat in the freezer, I look down the wide trail and there's a couple of more. Ok...."Ya'll just walk your asses up here" Nope! They went the other way only to return with a heard! there's like 9 now in front of me at 60-70 yards. I hit the deer can 2 times and they looked interested. The smaller ones were playing and the mom-mas kept running them down and bringing them back to the bottom. Guess they knew I was there? I don't know...all I do know is they never came in for a shot. I watch them turn back into the woods and go out of site.

Must have been a hour or so and I'm scanning the thicker stuff behind me and see a rack moving through the brush...Oh yea. Im about to tag one. Why hell no! This thing moves back away from me and goes all the way around the stand. The next time I see him, hes about to step into the plot and I was ready...NOPE! He went another route. Ugh...That concludes the am hunt. Off to lunch!

Back in the stand around 3 or so....Not 30 freaking minutes I have another buck in the brush. This time hes closer and I was pretty sure I could get a shot off. I did....however I must have hit something. Arrow in the dirt and buck somewhere in the woods. UGH! So spur comes up the trail and we take a look to make sure I didn't hit him. No blood anywhere. Oh well. Spur decides that maybe I need to change stands now and I thought I could use a change of scenery anyways. We head up the trail to an open stand and I get all settled in.

Same story...I'm texting and checking out messages on facebook and see something out of the corner of my eye. Keep in mind, at this point I wasn't expecting much. Ha. There's a screwed up 5 point standing in front of the stand. He walks out to 20 yards..looks away from me and I get to take aim. Swack...Lost that arrow but not before it passed through him. Ran or rather stumbled about 60 feet and dropped. FINALLY!!! I sat a few minutes and thought the hunt was over so I got down to grab a photo and look for that arrow. After I couldn't find it, I crawled back into the stand and reloaded just in case. 15 minutes later, I busted by 2 big Does. Erik heard them for a damn mile blowing. At that point...I'm done.

We track his buddies doe after loading mine in the truck and thank god that didn't take long. Back down the hill...field dressed them and ran back to Chatt. All and all...A GREAT DAY! I seen more deer on that trip in one sitting than I ever have. THANKS ERIK! After fighting the back issues, this was a weekend I really needed!
