This is a little late but I wanted to make sure I was doing these. I fish by myself most days which is okay but if you live around Nickajack and can fish during the week, look me up.
Both days were basically the same.. HOT! I got on the water too late monday and I left with a limit of sun burn both days.
I fished the rip rap next to the interstate and around the islands on both days as there was a ton of schooling bass up shallow feeding on schools of tiny bait all morning. Bad part was, I couldn't land any size. It seems like only slicks were schooling. However, I did beat them to death trying to find keeper bites within them. I landed a few 2-3 pounders here and there so that made me stick around. With no current last week out of the chick, there was likewise no current down here either. The lack of current never helped the fact that I am trying to learn ledge fishing. I gave up on that pretty quickly. All in all, it was a great 2 days out on the water. It seems like you learn something new everytime you head out.
The majority of the time, I fished a Zoom Magnum shaky head worm in Green Pumpkin Magic on a 1/4 ounce Owner Shaky head. I started off the morning with a Megabass Pop Max in White Python. I caught a good bit of fish on this. Even the smaller ones were sucking this down. I caught some decent Nick fish on a Keitech Swing Impact Fat swimbait (new favorite) and I also threw a DT6 and a few DT10's further out.
