Is there anywhere in town that I can find a kill switch that will fit on my factory Mercury ignition without having to replace the ignition switch? Are they simple to install? Didn't think much about mine not having one when I bought it, but with the high rate of incidents on the water this season, and my #1 fishing partner being my 16 yr old son, I've realized the need for being pro-active with safety. emoThumbsup

Steve,
On that particular engine you can use either the one for a "normal" outboard ( normally open) or the one for a sterndrive (normally closed). Some actually come set up to be used for either and some are specific to type of engine. There are 2 ways to wire that distributor engine up to work with a kill switch. Either cut the power to the switch box( one of the ones that actually supply voltage to it) which would use less wiring but require the control box to be taken apart (don't suggest due to quility of wiring and may be opening a can of worms) or use a ground to short out the trigger (distributor) using a external wire going to the engine. Hope this helps!

OK. I think I got the general idea. Thanks, James emoThumbsup

Does anybody know if they are a required component in TN? If so... is there any certain type required?
