Went chasing cats with Kirk and Kyle Gardner from Charleston today. Kyle just about about got "whupped" by a 20-pounder on light tackle. But he hung in there and put her in the boat. He managed a couple of others... 13# and 15#... plus a bunch of "little" fish. Fact of the matter is, Kyle whipped old Dad pretty good! ;)

Great job Richard. We are gonna have to nominate you for the hall of fame. Causing a lot of smiles here lately. Thanks for the pics and the report!emoThumbsup

Yea, that first fish is a egg-laden female. I have caught many fish that look just like her this time of year in the ponds that I used to fish. Great looking kitty, though. I bet that he had a blast trying to land that big girl.

RSimms, what do you consider a "small" fish. Most of the fish that I would keep, especially on the catfish side of things, are between 3/4 of a lb. and 6-7 lbs.

Keep the reports coming. ;)

Typically the methods and baits I use... anything under 5 lbs. is "small." We'll occasionally manage to catch those litlle dinks a pound or less, but not many.

Could probably play a pretty good belly bongo on that 20# cat. Almost Looks like that cat on a past post that swallowed a basketball. Whats up with the weather where you were? It looked nasty out my window in downtown Chattanooga pretty much all day. Dhaun ain't taught you no new tricks on the photo editing now has he.

Good post. It is amazing how the liitle guy always wins. I still put my money on someone who does not fish for cats much to win the cat battle. It just happens that the newbies have all the luck.
