I know it has been almost a year now but I thought ya'll might enjoy this one. This one was caught while crappie fishing. We were fishing the docks downstream from the nuke. Slipfloats and small tuffies were the ticket at that time for crappie. I had set the float at about 4 ft deep and was fishing in 6-8 ft of water. About the third cast on that particular dock the float went under slow, just like a crappie. I wound in some slack and swept the hookset. Luckily that fish ran out away from the dock and out to deep water. It took a little time to get it up to the top and I thought it was a good cat until I saw it. It really didn't fight like a normal smallmouth. I was using 10lb test berkley for the main line but I had a barrel swivel and about 2 ft of 4lb for a leader. The hook was a red #6 thinwire. The time was somewhere around 12:30-1 pm.
