I'm not new to fishing chick. I understand the ledge bite is where it's at this time of year but as a young guy with a 16/52 Lowe's with no electronics I fish shallow. When I say shallow I mean anywhere from 12ft and shallower. I can always catch a few flipping docs or on points adjacent to the channel. I'm wondering if anyone could give me some advice on catching more fish in different places. As in around the grass In the shallower areas. I'm the furthest thing from an expert or anything related to the term. Just a 23 year old who loves catching fish. Thanks for any and all help.

Not sure what you want to know, but you can read magazines watch videos or let someone tell you how to do it. But nothing beats time on the water and experience. Your best tool is confidence in what you do best. Sure go out and at least try new things, But I seem to always go back to my strength which is flipping and pitching. I have yet to crack the ledge code, but I'm trying to learn.

I hear you and thanks for reply. I think my problem is going back to the same ole spots and flippin the same ole baits. The weed edges interest me but just don't really know how guys fish em and what kind of baits are better for shallower grass.

On shallow grass I love the frog. Try the strike king KVD or scum frog popper. Fish it slow this time of year. On the edge if you don't like the frog try a popper or sammie or you can use soft plastics like a Yum dinger or fluke. This is just what I use and have to work for me, but like Gone fishin said you have to have confidence in what you use and the only way to get that is time in the seat (or deck in this situation). Hope this helps.
