Re: Lure modification can make all the difference - enter 'Frankenstein' soft plastics

Well, let me give you my "pitch". Ha Ha!

Fairfield Glade-Crossville
#1 at 2000 feet therefore 6 -8 degrees cooler than Memphis; Nashville; Chatt. and Knoxville..also cooler in Winter!
#2 Wyndham Resort Community. Five golf courses (Golf Capital of TN.) Eleven lakes.. but I can't catch many fish in them!
#3. 45 minutes from all of the shopping your wife could want in Knoxville Suburb of Farragut
#4. Excellent medical facilities in Knoxville, about an hour away, or, two hours to Vanderbilt.
#5. Tons of things to do. i.e Art/Music/Swimming/Tennis/Pickleball/Golf/Cards/Dancing/Basketball all in a community of people who actually DO THOSE THINGS. Monday night free outdoor music all Summer.
# 6. Large (fee) exercise facility; meeting rooms, indoor swimming pool (also two outdoor pools) Indoor and Outdoor Pickleball and Tennis. Two beaches on the two larger lakes. Kayaking; pontoon boat; fishing boat rentals. NO WAKE Lakes (all of them)
#7 Assisted living facility on the site
#8 Low prices, everything from condos to small and large homes. Prices on homes from $125m to a $500/750M mansions on the big lake. Condos and even some older mobile homes are available, too. Golf course living around $200,000 and up.
#9 Low Real Estate taxes....i.e. 175m 3 bedroom home, on one of the golf courses, taxes are under $900.00 annually.
#10 reasonable monthly fees. $95.00 monthly for access to almost everything (you still pay low golf fees) Water; sewer; garbage included.
#11 Contingents from nearly every State West of the Mississippi. Pretty sure the NY 'ers have their own picnic each Summer, Most States do.
#12 Candidly, the cooler temperatures are a BIG reason why my wife and I wound up there part of each year. We get out of Hot, Hot, Hot Houston TX every Summer.
#13 Fishing Caney Fork River is one hour West (big rainbows); Chickamauga; Melton Hill (Stripers and muskies);Watts Bar and more all are 1 to 1 1/2 hours to the East.

Negative for me is that Crossville doesn't have much in the way of dining out. Cookeville is 30 minutes West and has plenty of restaurants and Knoxville suburbs are 45-minutes East and has every restaurant that I can think of. In Crossville, if Lowes and/or Walmart doesn't have it, I order from Amazon.

What more can I say????

Wife is returning from Clarksville and was disappointed by the area and the houses for sale - some being way too inflated in price. I guess my trip through western Tn. just after my discharge from the service in '74 was in a different part the the state than the one we've been looking. Lot's of evergreens if my memory serves.

The real estate dealer is still looking even though the house we really wanted to place a bid was sold by another dealer. Thanks for the great help, greatly appreciated!

(Funny though how the weather hasn't been much warmer than in southern NY. for this time of year.)

I believe that the homes anywhere near Nashville have become "hot" properties. My wife watches a lot of these HGTV shoes and Nashville is featured almost weekly nowadays. Too many people moving out of the high-cost States.

What amazed my wife was the crap she was shown in the price range under 200k. We had to deal with that in NY and finally bought when prices were falling and a new house had been on the market awhile. Many of these houses had almost double markups since they were first built 10-15 years ago and just weren't worth it.

Never knew you could do that. Or even thought about it. So now I will be trying it out. Ty for the write up. Very interesting. Look out soft plastics that I thought I would never use. I might have a use for you after all.

"Never knew you could do that."

Not sure of the meaning of your reply. Sorry.

Now I got it! Sorry.
I can't remember the first time I altered soft plastics using a candle, but the results have been amazing and helped me catch fish on lures I'd given up on. Super satisfying when you can catch fish on a design never sold by anyone.

Post some of your results. You might give me a few ideas.
