great post drumking, o.k. guys and gals one thing i can say is be glad we do not live in indiana and places like there they only have like 500+ acre lakes to fish and think of the holes they don't get to fish. we should feel good to fish on our lakes. another thing who's to say that they are or aren't fishing the same style as you and you couldn't fall in behind them just stay 50+ yards away and you shouldn't have a problem!!! RIGHT? RIGHT!!!

We could always just list out who the real hole stealers are. I could name a few right off the bat. It might suprise some of you.

Yea, we could do that and completely tear CFF apart. This is the stuff that we are trying to avoid and hoping like heck that we can salvage what value there is left in the forum.

MrWhiskers is exactly right in his post. Generic posts are useless. Unless we weather this attack on the forum and are able to return to a family atmosphere where there is genuine care and concern for each other.....

This is certainly an issue that has struck a nerve on here! I agree with the solution several have mentioned already. If you have even a modest amount of fishing experience, then the only information you truly need are things like depth, temp., etc. Information such as exact lure colors, exact locations, etc. is just unnecessary bonus info. Any details someone is willing to give up are certainly welcome but not a necessity. And a report, to me, does not become generic just because locations are not mentioned. A fairly detailed report can be accomplished without giving up your great-grandpa's secret hole.emoBigsmile
I have not been a member as long or made as many reports as some on here, however, I have posted several and included pics. I have also shown pics of some decent bass and then the next day gone back to the spot and had to double park and check my boat with the valet. Did it make me mad? No, because I am the moron that posted the pics with the background clearly visible!emoDoh emoBigsmile Did it never occur to some that giving out specific details would lead to someone fishing those spots? That is very naive if anyone thought that.
I think that bearing in mind that there are a lot of lurkers and others that depend on you putting them on fish; you should be able to post good reports without selling out anyone's favorite 'holes.' Speaking of lurkers I am reminded of something I saw once. An FLW pro had a list with about 50 different user names and passwords on it where he belonged to various 'local' fishing forums around the country! Obviously, forums such as this are a big tool for local and pro tourney anglers alike.
Sounds like an easy fix to me and no one has to stop posting!emoTongue emoThanks

I don't think listing out a few bad actors will tear cff apart. I personally don't read many other peoples fishing reports. The people I want to learn from don't post reports. If they do they are not factual.

That is precisely what has impacted my time on the forum. It's not just the fishing reports...it's the forum as a whole. When asked, I've told many that I don't log-on as much due to school. However, the truth is that something is missing from the forum these days and has been for several months. Until DK's above post, I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. Thanks for the clarification, Drumking.

I wish I had the magic rabbit to pull out of the hat on this one. Forums are so very often driven by the members that participate in them.

My personal feelings are that a purge of inactive members (no activity 5-6 months), posts viewable only by members, and membership requirements (post count, site participation, etc?) could help to bring it back to the family atmosphere that several folks have spoken of. Unfortunately those changes have to be staffed up to the ownership. Who at times are very hard to get in touch with.

I know some have had concerns about swearing and vulgarities on the forum. I completely understand. I ask that if something you see is in those two categories please let myself or Billy know, and we'll take care of it. As much as I would like to look at every post on every thread, I simply can't do that. Yes, that are what moderators are for, but things are missed unfortunately. So please let me or Billy know and we'll get it mopped up and clean. A quick PM will work well. Thanks to those of you who already do that.

As I've said before... I agree and want to keep this a Family Thang. My worse nightmare is watching this turn into Bass Fishing Home Page Jr. Granted I like going there, but there is no personal relationships or interaction that make this place so special.

With all that being said please let me or Billy know if you have specific concerns and issues. I will do everything I can to address them to your satisfaction. CFF is nothing without its members.

Thanks, Brandon

While we are on the subject of "missing members", where is TT? LiveLiner? JerDog? Ranman?

And AndrewM.... Havent heard from him in a long time

Also What about if we start posting pics of lures and locations that didnt produce fish. Would that work???? emoTongue

Brandon, I have been on other forums which regularly ask participants to post/share information or be purged from the list. I don't find anything harsh or wrong about this.

I was reminded several times recently of the reasons Craazy & I love the CFF so much -- the PEOPLE we've MET. I stopped by RangerRob's to pick up some lures. Had a great conversation and he made some purdy SB for us. Also met John Swallows this week (recommended by the Forum) who repaired our trolling motor - he talked fishing with Kevin in his shop for a good long while.

There are so many great folks who have taken time to share info about fishing. RSimms, who introduced us to the CFF, RangerRob, the first CFFer to fish a tournament with Kevin, 2jigs (NickaJack & Parksville), EricM (instilled new interest in catfishing!), MrWiskers (TX), Freebird (Night TX), BBass (Tuesday night dogfight)...well, you get the idea. If I left anybody out, I apologize!

I do want to see the Family atmosphere continue.

On the lighter side, in a few weeks our main worry will be the jet-skis & pleasure boats!
