Good grief, if there was any subject I thought all on here would agree upon, I really thought this was it. But nooooo, still gotta argue I guess.

Though the Mosque is legal it will do more harm than good in this setting. If the Muslim world really wants to build bridges and not enemies it should relocate the Mosque.

emoIdea Yeah why don't we move them to the salty lake in desert like we did the Mormans. That will show them. emoPoke

Bfish I finally figured out where you are coming from. Pessimistic and a troll. Cut me man and I bleed red white , blue. That means any one for America. You aren't for no body. If it takes moving them to the desert to keep them from insulting the people that has died from the great Allah's hand then so be it. Do you think for a minute that any Islamic would let any American build a church of any denomination on their soil. Haven't you read anything about the six medical personal that were killed in the name of the Quarn because they were accused of preaching Christianity. Now I think I might go on out and accuse one of preaching Islam. What do yea think. Now if you decided you wanted to stand and protect them then I would say you aren't American any more. You need to get a life.

Bubbakat, the sarcasm in my desert post went right over your head.

5-7 million American Muslims are citizens too, including around 8,000 in the US Armed Forces (which is nearly double the percentage when compared to Catholics (number of military personal divided by number of practicing the religion). I guess religion defines nationality for you?

I think everyone who wants the Mosque moved should band together and raise the money to buy the property out right. That would solve the issue.

Go ahead.... Send'em to the desert. You Christians that want to send them there need to go right along with them yourselves. (I'll chip in for your one-way bus ticket) You can all fight it out to determine who's god is greater. That way I don't have to be caught up as collateral damage in your Holy War.

...Bfish...some people are only as smart as they are taught, without the concept of learning.
Can you really call it learning, when it is just a rehash of the same dogmatic principals?

Radicalism of any religion leads to fanaticism.

Unfortunately, some fail to comprehend that splinter groups from the mainstream, do not represent all.

By the same logic that is presented in this thread against the mosque, then no Christian church should be located on the near the blast grounds in Oklahoma City (McVeigh was a Catholic) and Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta (Rudolph was involved with Christian Identity).

Wow, I agree with all of this (except I do not fully agree with the last statement, I don't think it was McVeigh's Cathlocism/Rudolph's Christian Identity that was their motivation to act), well said. However just can't see how this is not a move to enflame New Yorkers and basically every citizen of the United States that love his/her country. The simplest answer is usually the correct one.

collateral damage is just that; damage that is unintended/incidental with the intended outcome.
some sound like they were converted, while doing 3-5
the "Mormons" chose the place they settled, checkered past and all.
same as protestants/christians....they choose also,,checkered past and all.
same for the Jews & Catholics.
The Atheist don't have a place.
guess that names them all except for the agnostics, and they're everywhere.
A mosque near ground zero has no place.
How about building a Klan meeting/community center next door to the Lorraine Motel in Memphis,TN.?

Well one of my post got removed so I won't comment any more but you guys that want to have the Islam by your side you had better rethink you position here because they won't steer around you they will go through you to do what they want. I will not comment on this any more.

I agree that putting the Mosque near ground zero is not a good idea. But not for the reasons many have posted one here I believe the controversy says more about the ones opposing a peaceful place of worship, than the ones wanting to build it. I am not a member of either organized religion, and have just as much distaste for literal/fundamentalist/extremest Islam as I do for the same types of Christianity.

Hey Bfish I wonder if you would like the honor of telling 911 family members that they are going to put a Mosque beside their sons and daughters graves.

outcaster - 8/15/2010 12:08 AM I've got an idea........ Why don't Christians and Muslims stop killing each other
I wish they would Danny, but unfortunately it has been going on for thousands of years (and probably for thousands more).

I don't have to fight ANYBODY to know who's GOD is greater. My GOD was crucified on a cross. My GOD rose and left an empty tomb three days later. My GOD has the nail scars on his hands and feet. My GOD created man animal and a universe. My GOD knows every living being by heart whether they are good or bad. He shows any man or women the same grace he shows me after I continually fail him miserably! I don't think for one second that anyone can say that about another god. Especially the ones who tell their worshipers to kill anyone who doesn't accept their beliefs. Thats all I got to say about that. Have a nice day! emoAngel

You're right Patrick, It's just a silly wish, and a bit sarcastic. It's my belief that over history organized religion has caused much more harm than good. People are too easily influenced while searching for purpose and meaning in life.

That's the most interesting thing about religion. Everybody thinks (and says) his religion and god is the true one. Thing is: no-one can "prove" it.

Thats why it is called faith and if you don't have faith, you can't know God. emoAngel

I have read some of these posts out of boredom and became outraged! I can not honeslty believe some of the ignorant posts on this topic! How can you honeslty think that there is anything right(legal or not) about building a mosque at ground zero after watching the footage on Sept. 11! I remember exactly where I was and all of you do as well, and that is because it was the most horrific and horrible act of terrorism that people my age will probably ever see! I pray to MY GOD that nothing like that ever happens again! For those of you who want all of this equality bull****, try another country! When you come back to America you may kiss the ground and thank GOD for the love, kindness, friendliness, affection, helpfulness, and the open arms that WE Americans(Christians, Jews, etc...) show and give on a daily basis! Bottom line I don't even consider this a relegion issue, but the pride of a nation to stand up and say we will not put up with the straight up slap in the face of building a worship center for the brothers of those who tore down that very ground!
