Obama Bans Sportfishing

I've always said a vote for Obama was a vote for PETA!! Of course, I really shouldn't pick on Obama. You can just as easily say a vote for a liberal democrat is a vote for PETA!!

When the post refers to citizens does that mean the ones with 100 foot boats and big huge nets catching sport fish. Just asking Maybe we should just start netting for largemouth, those guys that do are citizens aren't they? Please.

I don't think ESPN is one to publish particularly biased articles. Possum did you read the article? how did you take what was written?

Didn't we already discuss this? More anti-establishment propaganda, IMO.

All the act does is codify that federal agencies to coordinate on issues that affect marine resources. For example if Homeland Security desires to close down a bay to all boat traffic, they need to check with NMFS to make sure there is an important fishery that takes place there (say redfish) and vice versa. There is no expansion of power, just that the agencies need to coordinate when exercising their existing powers.

I would think that the best way for any politician to cause the next revolution would be to ban firearms and/or sportfishing. As much as I may disagree with a lot of them, I don't think there are any that are stupid enough to do that (at least I hope).

You guys have really went off the deep end. No pun intended. They have concern, just maliciously mistated. I will keep it nice. This is almost too funny to address, knowing track record of the Dems efforts to stop netting in gulf for sportfish. Have the Republicans become this desperate for votes, I really don't think so, but a few have went to far on this one. Do your party a favor and drop it. I will not waste my time, but I can pull up articles that demonstrate my point. I have been an active member on this topic for awhile.

Most people do like me til they realize I'm a whiny liberal that doesn't care much for Church. lol The post was a failed attempt at a joke. Republicans have been scaring and firing up sportsmen for 30 years with that kind of stuff. And no, Obama does not want your fishing rod or your gun. The govt has always lumped commercial fishing in with sport fishing on conservation issues. I wish they wouldn't, but they do. W did the same thing, so did Clinton, and Bush1.

So is a vote for a Republican a vote for the KKK? Skin heads, or Timothy McVeays cause? Maybe Randoulf? Don't think so. Would not stoop that low. Maybe that is the problem with our party, we just want go there. Other than a few I don't think too many would even go there, however I see you have no problem putting me or Democrats with the PETA people. PETA is a bunch of idiots just like the ones that claim your side. Really hope you on other side feel the same way.

This is so un-believably absurd. I can't believe I'm gonna respond, but here goes. On both sides of the political spectrum there are fringe groups that have beliefs and Ideas far removed from the mainstream. On the far Left, there is PETA, very extreme environmentalists, and many others. On the far Right there are folks like the group from the Westboro Baptist Church, Timothy McVeigh, and Eric Rudolph. If all Liberals are required to be linked to PETA, then all Conservatives should be linked to the Westboro Baptist Church crowd. Is that OK with everyone?

I agree with everything in the letter sent to the President. And am frustrated that sports fishermen, and recreational boaters get lumped in with the commercial fishing industry, and shipping on issues like this. But to make the jump as cheez and others have, that all this is somehow all new under the Obama administration is absurd, and is done to stir up sportsmen. Why do they do it?........ Because it WORKS!
