I remember not long ago how funny it was to see alabama going through the coaching problems . not funny now . go vols!

I don't believe it. Gruden's name has popped up in the last 5 years at Ohio St. USC, Texas, Notre Dame and several other pro teams and he has turned them all down. He's name was also mentioned at Tn. before Dooley. He seems to be very happy in Tampa and coaching his son's H/S team and collecting a reported 4 mil as an announcer. Why would he want to jump into hot cauldron college coaching position? One other thing, If I understand it correctly the Tn. HC budget is about 1.7 mil. But if it is true and does happen, so be it! RTR!

Idk there seems to be many people on volnation saying they have heard good things about it. Most of them are very reliable as well.
But who knows, this for sure would be one of the biggest hires in the last 20 years.

I think Gruden would be the best fit for UT, but I really don't think he is leaving MNF, and the sweet gig he has there... People keep saying but his wife was a cheerleader at UT, come on does that really even matter?

So, once Gruden passes on the job I think the best hire is going to be Charlie Strong from Louisville... No way TN will sink to the level of hiring Patrino... Either way Dooley has got to go, he is losing his team, and after pointing fingers and calling out players to the media, come on these are kids... And he is 0-18 against ranked teams and only won three SEC games in the past three years which are Vandy twice, Ole Miss, and Kentucky once which means we have been beaten by UK for the first time in 30 something years.

However we cannot fire Dooley to only hire another Dooley... UT is on the verge of being irrelevant in College Football for the next 15-20 years... The USC of the 80s and 90s. Scary thought as a Vols fan...

Go big orange!

So are you saying that Dooley shouldn't have mentioned Brays struggles when the media asked him about it?

That's whats wrong these days. Everbody is scared they might hurt someone's feelings. By the way, hen do these players stop being "kids". I stopped being a kid when I turned 18. Bray is 21 years old. As for Dooley calling him out, I'm all for it. He's carried water for him on several incidents now and that didnt work so he's trying a different road.

Whatever Dooley has said or done to the media or behind closed doors, he has lost the respect of his players. You can tell they don't like playing for him and don't have faith in him.
He hasn't done a bad job we have some decent talent Dooley just can't call plays for them and utilize it.
Tennessee is at a point where they are either going to become completely irrelevant for years to come, or return to being an elite team.

Tennessee is getting what they deserve for the Fulmer screw-up. The best college Coaches are the ones who can recruit. Dooley hasn't had long enough to see his recruiting efforts come through. It also kinda hard to convince recruits to come to a program that was so devastated by the Kiffin debacle! Also think about the records of the teams Tennessee has lost too. Alabama Undefeated #1 in the Country, Mississippi State #11 Undefeated, Florida #2 Undefeated, Georgia #10 1 Loss. Give Dooley the time to turn that program around. He should get another year.

Fulmer should have been fired 10 years before he was. Kiffin was the best coach we have had in a long time. He did not expect his dream job to come open so soon, and that is why he left. Can't blame him. If you had one chance to fish your dream lake and not fish a tourney with your partner, wouldn't you? Human nature prevails.

So if they had fired Fulmer 10 years before he was fired in 2008 that would have foregone the National Championship and perfect season they had in 1998!! Good Call??? emoCrazy

The only way to justify firing Dooley is to get an A+ hire such as Gruden otherwise I think its stupid to to get rid him for someone like kirby smart. We need stability. And if we hire petrino im done with the Vols. He's a piece of crap!

i dont think the vols have to worry about bobby, i think the barn will replace ole cheese head with him

There are no bigger UT fans than myself and my son, but the VOL Nation is one that has never had any patience. They expect any coach to come in and have a National Championship Team in three years, ask yourself how many times that has happened anywhere in the SEC. I can tell you, very few. From what I understand, the defensive coach has a new strategy that can't be learned in a year. Dooley has only been there for three years and started with the crap team Kiffen left him. He has a quarterback that tightens up so bad under pressure that he can't hit wide open receivers and when he does luck up and throw a good ball the guys are so excited they can't catch it. I think Bray and Hunter both need to be called out and share some of the blame to get their act together. Lighten up, give the man some time to get his recruits and his defense taught. Looking to change coaches in anything less than 5 years is ridiculous.
